Erm, despite the fact I really shouldn't be bothered to argue the point; the problems are inherent in the router design and firmware, both of these are out of Sky's control.

Are they? I doubt that very much, and how do you know it's not a problem the DSLAM has with that chipset?

In reply to:

Why are you so upset about this concept?

Oh I am not. But I suspect all those out there with routers that aren't as good are wondering why things are changing. But I don't suppose you give a toss, after all you're all sorted.

right?

@ chewystuey - ummm...i have phoned and complained about the [censored] routerbut its not like they can do anything about it now can they? so i have to take action and my action was to find out my username/password and then use my own router.

Can't they? - why not. How many routers do you think they buy off of netgear? and you don't think they have a say in A) how that router functions (in terms of firmware), or B) where they place their CPE business?

what the hell are you talking about?! the router works [censored], so i use another one. if i phone sky, they cant fix my router, they can send me a new one but it may turn out the same and i have to go through the hassel of sending back the old one. whats the point?! it is far easier for me to use my own router and it solves my problem. i am now happy with the SERVICE (not router) so who cares about what you just said.

wow man you talk about banging a dead horse, you were wrong with your original post either admit it or ignore it and move on.

They way you have defended a incorrect post would make me very wary of anything you say.

I'm using my 3 com now and although I still have issues with line, I now have a connection that lasts a hour or more ..if I use the sky router I'm lucky to have a 50 second connection

Try reading and you might understand.
Sky currently purchase just one router, in VERY large quantities. IF they get to know that most people aren't having a good service, then it's in their interest to speak to the router manufacturer to rectify this. Replacing your router with the same chipset and firmware won't make a bit of difference.

But then as we've seen, not all people who swap their routers are going from [censored] to brilliant service - more like [censored] to slightly better.

so who cares about what you just said.

Well clearly you do or you wouldn't have replied.

not by much does it. I don't class a service that disconnects every hour as workable.

do you?

Always nice when you re-edit your posts to change your tune.

At least I can't be accused of that.
