help

Could any one explain why?
When I connect my laptop direct by ethernet cable to the netgear router supplied by SKY.
I can receive 6.1mbs but when I connect via wifi the maximum i can get is 2.1mbs .
Is it the router? is it my new laptop?or is it SKY
The router is a sky supplied netgear wireless DG834GT
The laptop is a Lenovo 3000 N100

Any help would be gratefully received as this is driving me mad

Can I ask - is this the sync speed the router has with the exchange ( found here) or the speed the laptop is connecting to the modem (the speed shown when you hover/click the little icon in the taskbar of the laptop)?

I am presuming it is the sync speed with the exchange or the wireless is connecting awfully slow....

The speeds are when i run adslguide speed test when connecting to the modem i have a 54mbs speed the figures are wireless link i think
when i connect to the modem via ethernet cable i can get 6.4mbs but wirelessly 2.0mbs
any suggestions? is the router faulty? i am using a broadcom 802.11multiband network adapter built in to the laptop
