Anyone migrate from Virgin.net?

[link to this post]

I ordered Sky Mid about 3 weeks ago with a MAC code from Virgin, and received an activation date of 26/01. However, I have, and am still, receiving Virgin BB service and cannot connect to Sky BB. I have spent around 3 -4 hrs today tring to sort it out with Virgin, Sky and even BT. I think what it comes down to is that when Sky used the MAC code, Vrigin set a cease date of 30 days. However, Sky have activated me already, on 27/01 apparently. Should this have happened? Should I be on a 30 day notice with a MAC code? How do other ISPs do this? Surely they must have a notice period too?

Anyway, I have contacted Sky, and they say that it must be Virgin BB that is somehow blocking me to Sky. But they don't know how it is possible, because Virgin are using BT equipment, and Sky using their own. BT won't deal with me at all, saying the line is now owned by Sky. Virgin say I need to gie 30 days notice, and 15 Feb is the earliest they can disconnect me. So it's all basically a mess!!

Anyone else migrated from virgin? What was your experience?
Any advice on what I can do? Or is it a matter of sit and wait until 15 Feb?

If Sky tell you that you should be on their equipment, that means LLU. BT think you are on LLU, however as you are still online with Virgin you are not !!

Openreach haven't finished their task (or got to you yet?). Suspect you need to keep giving grief to Sky until they call Openreach and have a moan (again).

From the front page of this site:
the statistics seem to show things are improving with bulk migrations of lines to a shared unbundled line (shared means the voice side remains with the customers existing voice line rental company) being completed right first time around 96% of the time

I guess you're in the 4% of problems!

I kept telling them that, but they were having none of it!! They kept saying it's impossible for Virgin to use their equipment, and that I was on their equipment. So contradicting themselves!! I told them that something must be wrong along the line, but they said no, they wouldn't get an indication (on whatever they were looking at) that I was active with them.

When I spoke to BT, they said that the line has been switched over to Sky and work is complete. Provisioned, was the phrase they used, i think. Sky just kept saying that I was on their line and active, but somehow virgin were still active and must be blocking my sky service. Should Sky have activated me when virgin insisted on 30 days notice from when the MAC code was used?

Hi sywy,

Have you got the Sky router or the Virgin modem plugged in?

If you've got the virgin modem plugged in and your getting a connection then your still on Virgin.

I know I'm getting the Virgin service, as I'm using my old Netgear DG834G router, using mu virgin ID and password. If I connect the sky router in, I get 'CHAP authentification failed'. Can I get 2 lots of broadband on the same line?
