Tiscalli to Sky LLU - Migration

[link to this post]

Hi There,

A friend just got his MAC code from Tiscalli and wants to move to Sky LLU 16mb. Tiscali tell him sky wont accept the MAC code because they r LLU? This is correct is it?

Surely u can migrate from ipstream to LLU, just not back?

Yes, Sky will not accept LLU MAC keys - you can migrate from IPStream to LLU but I thought Tiscali were also LLU'd so that won't happen.

There are providers out there who will do this but Sky are not one of them.

I'm not really sure how to interpret that page - use this http://www.samknows.com/broadband/checker2.php feed in your phone number and see what it say's.

hi this is the result but in english what does it mean? thanks
Results for ************* at 14:34 03/02/2007

Congratulations, you are in a broadband enabled area.
However, your line is currently unbundled by an LLU operator such as Be, Bulldog or Easynet (SMPF LLU). Moving to another provider may require a cease and re-provide, which may result in loss of service for up to two weeks.

The following services are available in your location:

BT Wholesale ADSL
BT Wholesale ADSL Max
BT Wholesale SDSL
Sky Broadband / Easynet LLU
NTL Cable
21CN PSTN migration due Oct-Dec 2010
21CN IP migration due Jan-Mar 2011

It means unfortunately that you are on your current providers LLU network and won't be able to migrate to Sky - you could go for a cease and re-provide but that can take weeks, or there is a really naughty option and that is, migrate to an ISP that takes LLU MAC keys with a one-month contract on IPStream, and then move to Sky after a short period - this is unethical and unfair and I wouldn't recommend it, but there are some that do it.

Did your current ISP ask if you would go to their LLU? If not, perhaps you could fight them to put you back on IPStream but they won't take this kindly as they are charged for this.

Good luck - Blue

Hi GW, just re-read your post - you say you are with Tiscali but I don't see their network mentioned - a bit confused here as I would have thought it would state Tiscali.

Perhaps you could ring them and ask!
