BT Voyager

[link to this post]

I have just moved to Sky max from Virgin Media, well anything to save 15 a month.
I had trouble connecting at first due to thinking I could use my own router, a BT Voyager 2100 which has been no trouble for years. Anyway after banging my head on the wall ringing the sky technical helpline and speaking to someone in the philipines who was clueless trying to establish my username and password I decided to use the router provided. they said I had to.
I am no expert but have a basic enough knowledge to scratch my head and get to the bottom of something. I got the router connected but suffered a drop in speed to half a meg when I had been getting 2 meg before. No amount of messing improved it. Also it seemed to drop the connection when the house phone was used.
Not happy with this I decided to try and use my BT Voyager
I read the forum and found a link to a tool to extract my username and password from my sky router. I did this, put my own router on and entered the username and password
It connected first time, its better than the netgear box, has better wireless coverage and my speed suddenly increased to between 2 and 3 megs. Its been connected ever since!
Has anyone else used their own router?

I use my own router - it was easier than reconfiguring all the wirelessly attached Thinkpads. I get roughly the same connection speeds with all 4 of my routers.
