Re: Anyone having email problems?

Sky's Imap settings might be similar to gmail's here:- http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=78799

there is a DNS entry for "bskyb-imap-ssl.l.google.com" but it resolves to the same IP address as "pop.tools.sky.com"

Sky's POP settings are here:- http://www.sky.com/portal/site/skycom/support/broadband/article?contentid=846610

Cheers for that, but Sky don't allow it at the mo. If I log into my proper gmail account, I can turn on imap. However I don't have that option in my skoogle mail account.

I think I'm right in thinking, not all gmail accounts have imap yet either. Google are rolling it out as we speak.

Pipex -> Zen -> UKFSN -> Sky LLU

Your right, I've just tried it with my Sky email account and get an error: "imap is not available for your account".

I don't use the account so I've set it to forward to my gmail account.

I don't have the IMAP option in my gmail account, none the less IMAP works with gmail if POP is enabled.

My parents are. They were migrated to Gmail and wanted to continue using Outlook Express as they understand it better than Gmail, but when I configured it today it constantly asks them to authenticate with the pop server. I rang Sky and they said they were having issues and this was a common problem.

Also how rubbish is it that the Sky site gives one set of instructions for connecting to the Gmail servers, then the PDF instructions they provide on doing the same have different settings?

Not me.

But then again I do not use Sky Email because there seem to be such a time delay between someone send and me being able to receive it.

I swapped to Sky yesterday ( from eclipe ). My main email address works fine but I can't any extra email addresses to work ( the extra 10 they advertise ). They want authenticate via my POP3 email client. When I log on via sky's website ( which takes ages ) it says the mail box is unavailable.

I've set up addition googlemail addresses ( i.e what sky use anyway ) and the work fine.

Is there still a problem with Outlook Express following the google migration? My folks still can't get theirs to work!

Are you sure that it has been set up correctly?

The change of ports, the SSL being ticked, and having to use the full mail address rather that just the username are a few things that have to be changed as well as the word "tools" being inserted for the server address.
Tips here from a hijacked post above.

Just a tad sad..a wee bit old...
