What is the catch?

[link to this post]

Might be moving to an area under Sky LLU soon, does that mean that up to 16mbit is definitely provisionable or could only up to 8mb be available?

Whats the catch will the 29 all 3 package? I currently use Entanet as I don't might paying for more than I use if it means its a reliable service (which it has been), are customer services on Sky Indian and script driven?

I have a Billion 7402VGP I presume there's no issues with this router on SkyBB?

The "catch" is that you get a great connection for very little cash.

Novel idea eh?

I have Sky TV (obvioulsy) - the phone deal plus the broadband. What I find very worrying is just how little money goes out of my bank account every month to pay for it all.

I did have occassion to contact Sky CS - and at 2am in the morning.

I found all the horror stories about the CS to be complete and utter twaddle. The young lady I spoke to was excellent and my problem was sorted within 5 minutes.

How many other broadband suppliers have genuine 24 hour support eh?

As an addendum:-

If you get someone who already has Sky to "introduce" you - you and the "friend" will get a free Sky + box each for nothing. Of course you will also get their free wireless router as well.

Could the someone be anyone who wants a free sky+ box? i.e. don't know them in person.

I think a total random person off the street is pushing it, but if you know someone through someone it would work. It is a very simple form after all.

Sky T&Cs insist that you use their router.

In the past it was possible to obtain the embedded username and password to authenticate and use your own equipment, not approved of but nevertheless possible.

The new issue of router does not allow that apparently.

>I found all the horror stories about the CS to be complete and utter twaddle

I am not sure how you can use one instance of a 2am call to generalise other users issues with CS as "complete and utter twaddle"

I do think however that it has been remarkable that the userbase has grown so quickly in such a short space of time with not that many ripples in this forum. Due in part I guess to the Plug&Play nature of their equipment and what seems to me a conservative attitude to speeds on ADSL+2.

As growth seems to have slowed no doubt the calls have diminished and those dealing with them have far more experience, but some users have not had the happy experience that you have had and their issues should not be dismissed as twaddle.

I wasn't generalising other users issues.

Please notice the contruction of my sentence - i.e. "I found all the horror stories about the CS to be complete and utter twaddle"

That is a perfectly true and accurate statement. "I"(as in me - the singular) "found all the horror stories about CS" (i.e. I had heard lots of horror stories about Sky CS - lots from people who hadn't used Sky) "to be complete and utter twaddle" (i.e. none of the horror stories I had heard materialised).

If I had left out the word "I" - and put something like "All the horror stories about the CS are complete and utter twaddle" - that would have been generalising and inaccurate.

Anyone is welcome to discuss their own experiences of Sky CS but "I found all the horror stories about the CS to be complete and utter twaddle"

Also seeing as Sky has over a million users now I think - the fact that this forum is one of the least used for a very active ISP would also seem to indicate that the vast majority of Sky users don't get any problems - or when problems do arise, Sky CS is adept at fixing those problems.

Has it?

"BSkyB has announced its results for the three months to 30 September 2007."

"Sky broadband grew 31% with 223,000 new customers, taking the total to 939,000. Sky Talk grew by 29%, or 153,000, to 679,000 customers." Source

Are there later figures from Sky than up to the end of September 2007?
