Sky Connect

[link to this post]

Hi
Just in the process of moving over to Sky Connect.
Didnt realise until today that there is traffic management. Does it only come into effect when the 40GB limit is reached?

Also, I have just set up e-mail accounts for myself and my wife and have a couple of niggly issues.
If I send an e-mail to myself, it doesnt come through. Also, if I send an e-mail to my wife,(i.e. Sky to Sky) the AVG 'checked' signature is not in the message which makes me concerned as to whether its been checked or not, although it is there when I send to other people.
Thanks
Jeff

As far as I know there is no way of checking how much bandwidth you have used so Sky do not bother if you go over your limit, I assume if you took the mick every month and downloaded 80GB they would probably send you a email asking you to back off a bit.

Maybe they will and if you are on the Mid package and regularly go over the 40GB limit then I think that they would be reasonable and ask you to either look at your downloading habits and try to stay in the limits or invite you to spend the extra 5 a month for the Max product (which recently was posted that they were dropping the FUP on). I see nothing unreasonable on our providers part. I don't think anyone can reasonably expect to download in excess of 1TB a month every month for the measly sum of 10 without some questions being asked.

When we ran that story it was not made clear which products it would apply to if any. Obviously with this week's news, it is Connect that they are going to enforce.

Thanks for that, lots of useful info there.
I'm still a bit concerned about the lack of AVG signatures on my mails, makes me think they are not being scanned. Could it be something to do with Sky using a secure connection (SSL).
Maybe it's something I have to set up in AVG?

Unfortunately it looks like AVG doesnt scan e-mails transmitted over ssl by default, you can manually set it answer 897 but it looks a bit of a nightmare.

Try it or change your AV (Kaspersky for instance scans ssl e-mails) or save any e-mail attachments first and manually scan them.
