Sky +

I have sky TV (no subscription) I only use it to view the freeview channels when i am recording two channels with my PVR, if i decide to move to Sky BB when we eventually get the LLU option will the engineer simply swap the old box for a new Sky+ box if we pay the extra or will he have to do a full install?

The LNB, on the dish arm, needs to be changed to accomodate the extra cables. Sky+ box has two tuners and requires two cables. New install therefore required.

Thanks, if I went for the standard box would it be a straight swap?
The last install was a pain in the ass due to the dish location, I don't want to go through that again to have more cable installed.

Just to point out you will need to have a Sky subscription (not just the box) and sign up for a package which the cheapest is circa 16pm I believe to get the cheap LLU Sky BB.

I believe a Sky+ box is much the standard nowadays and I have to add it is a great device, even if 90%+ of the Sky programs offered don't warrant the push of the record button.

I have a twin tuner PVR so don't really need the sky+ box, I would have had it if it were a simple swap job but I am not going through the hassle I had last time to have another cable installed.

I haven't got a Sky subscription but was under the impression you sign up for the TV package when signing for the Broadband.

Just checked and they do the basic box with a 17pm basic TV subscription plus your BB subscription on the package you chose.

I appreciate that running that extra cable may be an issue but of course with only one cable you will not have the facility via the Sky box to record two channels and still watch a recording, nor have the series link button that is a boon. Yes I am a fan of the box.

I do not have the benefit of terrestrial digital TV so very restricted with the basic channels via the aerial.

I noticed.

Cheers for the info I guess I will go the basic box route when they finally get the exchange sorted, might be a long wait.
