You don't have to do this for another 10 months or something I don't think. You will have to eventually, but not yet. New customers will not benefit from the same price as you without Sky Talk.

Unless you started Sky broadband within the last 6 months; then it is, I think, Jan 2010.

Non inclusive calls are expensive, add the fact Sky Talk is now a closed network (no more breakout to 1280 for example) and its no longer an option for me, I left for Primus where you get free evening/weekend calls and then use 18185 and the like for daytime/mobile.

Its a shame, Sky being a big player should (or does?) command cheap rates from its suppliers, pass these on to the customer with a reasonable profit and the product sells itself, as it is an evening Sky Talk 0870 call is 433% and an 0845 is 1100% more expensive than BT, no wonder theres a surcharge on BB prices to pressure taking Talk, would you use it otherwise?

0845----------------Daytime ----Evening/Night
Sky 7p connection + 6p/min.--------6p/min.
BT 6p connection + 2p/min.--------p/min.

0870----------------Daytime ----Evening/Night
Sky 7p connection + 10p/min.-------8p/min.
BT 6p connection + 06p/min.-------1p/min.

I mean you cant break out of Sky's voice network by using an override provider even if you pay BT for line rental, Sky now prevent you from hopping onto BT's network to get cheaper 0845/0870 calls by prefixing 1280.

Ultimately it depends on your call types/usage pattern whether its worth staying on Sky Talk to save the 5 BB surcharge, savings can be massive though, example a 30 min daytime call on Talk Freetime 1.27 versus as long as you want for 5p on 18185 overrider.

18185 still works on sky talk but with 1280 gone confidence is shattered as some people think its only a matter of time before its blocked. Ofcom have been contacted by dozens of people regarding the sky talk shambles and are playing dumb at the moment.
