Sky LLU Enabled Exchange

[link to this post]

I have been trying with no great success to sort my inlaws with the free Sky Base package. They are connected to the Cheetham Hill exchange in Manchester which, according to Samknows is unbundled for Sky.

Whenever I speak to Sky, they tell me they can only receive Connect which, depending on the mood of the operator, ranges from 10 to 17pm.

They are a long way from the exchange and can just about scrape a 500k AOL connection at the moment. Is it possible that the exchange is enabled, but they are too distant to receive the Sky packages? Or are Sky just being their usual useless selves. One operator did tell me they can get all 3 packages, however never managed to get this confirmed since.

no, they simply said they are in an "off net" area which I think is wrong

We are a fair distance away but still get around 3.5mb,you would still think they could offer some LLU speed, i dont understand it.

Hi Andy,

I am on Sky Connect. My exchange has Sky LLU but because my phone line is TPON (fibre optics) Sky informed me I could not get a Sky BB connection. It took a fustrating 5 weeks to finally convince Sky, with the help of a BT director, that I could get BB (previously with MAAF). Somewhere on the Sky Broadband site there is a mention if your exchange has Sky LLU and is "full" they may supply Sky Connect at the same cost as Sky Mid - 5. I have been on Connect at 5 for 1 week and myTest Results from speedtester.bt.com are:-
DSL Connection rate: 8128 kbps( d/stream) 448kbps (up-stream)
IP profile - 7150 kbps. Actual throughput on this test - 6625 kbps
Speed tests on thinkbroadband site average - 6600kbps and 346 kbps

I also have Sky Talk and all phone calls to Sky are free otherwise would have been at 4p/min.
