Please don't go to TT. They are so much trouble. OK it looks cheap but how much is your health worth? If they drive you to a nervous breakdown or a heart attack, will saving a couple of quid a month pay your mortgage while you are in hospital?

Go to Zen, BE, O2, Plusnet and save your sanity.

When I tried to join it all went wrong for me, it took 6 weeks to finally get the order moving. Once you get to that stage and can join the TTM forums it is plain sailing.

You just need to be really lucky and get someone on the phone who knows what they are on about.

They told me many times over many calls that my order was ok, that my order was being processed, that my order had got lost, that my order could not be found, that my order had been confirmed, that my order had been cancelled.

Then one day I got someone on the phone who actually knew what they were on about and fixed everything and a week later I was signed up.

Note that they record the calls you make to TT (they fixed problems with my account by listening to recorded conversations between me and TT operators which proved I was telling the truth) so if you do talk to them on the phone take note of the date.

Just got to keep at them.

Don't forget that talk talk tend to fully LLU customers (phone & adsl) and this can be problematic and can incur costs or being roped into a new contract with bt should you go back to bt, as should it go t*t's up no other isp can provide you service whilst connected to tt's equipment as a active btw line is required,
personally i would not go there, but the choice is yours

It can work out Ok sometimes, not all bad-news stories.

I know someone just joined them, more than doubled their up/down speeds, very pleased.

but joining can sometimes be difficult
They seem to put orders on hold or cancel them for various reasons, usually without informing what the reason is.
One of the reasons is exchange being 'Live' but maybe not having enough capacity.

You can check your exchange via these tt links
the speed they suggest can sometimes be better.

look for the green tick, the 'Live' status, & any possible comments against that exchange.

Hi webb, if you think you have problems joining TT spend a day exploring this forum and be thankful you're not trying to escape FROM them. When it works it's fine but when it doesn't ... have another look at your first reply

No there not that bad but as long as you understand they are a budget ISP and your not going to get bell and whistle support , the connection is amazing value for money as long as every thing works .

Its when things go wrong TalkTalk fail to impress but as you already indicated you know about the members forum I'm guessing you have done your home work and are trying to join TalkTalk with your eyes wide open .

You will just have to learn to ignore the massive amounts of TalkTalk trolls that reside on this and many other forums and as is nearly always the case when you drill down into the Troll you find they have never been a TalkTalk customer and cant give a balanced or informed opinion anyway .

Dont get me wrong , TalkTalk have huge failings and would not suit some customers needs but also with the same breath they have some huge pluses ( like the cost ) .

No problem. wink

I will add to woweeberts post and say that i have been a TT customer for over 12 months and other than a router developing an intermittent fault have had no problems at all. (they sent me a new one within 3 days of reporting the fault on the TT forum)

Phone support lets TT down badly, the OCE's in the TT forum are very helpful and usually get problems sorted quickly but they only work office hours which leaves a lot of time when customers have to rely on phone support, reading the forum here and the TT forum shows how badly things can go when you phone customer support.. frown

I have also been very pleased with TalkTalk. My upload speed nearly doubled and download increased. The members forum is very good at sorting out problems, but I have avoided telephone support. Costs are good and TalkTalk are now offering 100 minutes calls a month to mobiles for £2.93.

Your other option for llu is to go with a cpw reseller such as xilo or vivaciti.
Check out the reseller forum on here for info.
They may be more eager to take your order smile

Been on TalkTalk LLU for over a year. Was actually migrated from the basic service without my knowledge when my exchange was upgraded with TT's LLU kit! Only a dramatic speed increase in downloads made me notice. Checking the TT website for my line gives an estimated speed of 20 Mbps. Various speedtesters give results between 17.5 Mbps and 19Mbps. Fast enough for me as cable will never be an option here.

So far has been very reliable with no outages. Never had to contact customer services.

Hi webb,

If you are still having problems signing up then I can have a look into it for you. Although you will not be able to register on the TalkTalk Members forum at the moment if you complete the contact us form I will have a look.
