Hi.
Have you tried a post on the talk talk Members forum?
I know it sounds lame but truly If i get any problems im not even going to waste time on the phone.
Talktalk members forum is the only place ive had common sense the helplines you phone and its enough to make you want to leave there and then.
If you dont get any joy
you might want to think about
http://www.ombudsman-services.org/communications.html
I would give the forums one last try and basically say what you have here.I hope things work out for you either way.

Yes its Ofcom , you say you have moved and experiencing the same problem at a different address and exchange ? what is the problem ?
|
|

Also im going to add , its obvious you are working from home and using your TalkTalk connection for work , which is in breach of the TalkTalk terms and conditions , which you should keep in mind whilst making a complaint to Ofcom .
It never fails to amaze me the amount of company's and individuals that will entrust their connectivity to the out side world to a budget domestic ISP when there livelihood depends on having internet .
You have now been with 2 domestic ISP , breaching both there terms and conditions as you are working from home , maybe its time to pay your money and go with a ISP that can support your needs and has fast fault resolution times and not onto the next budget domestic ISP .

A better place to go and seek advice from is the communications ombudsman
http://www.ombudsman-services.org/communications.html
They are there to help people seek resolution.

Hi, just wondered if you had more info on that, I can't seem to get the right google search.
I did find http://www.talktalkmembers.com/forums/showthread.php... where the OP states he works from home but the OCE doesn't mention any problem with that

It is also quite interesting as the last 3 ISP's I have been with do not mention anything about working from home.
They all mention you cannot run you own business on a domestic connection but working from home isn't that and given that the government is pushing for more and more people to actually work from home perhaps the ISP's should be offering packages where you can explicitly work from home on.
|
|

its very well documented that Sky also exclude business usage on there services also but im not trawling through there terms and conditions to prove something that is general knowledge on these forums . 6. Your Use of the Services
6.1 You agree not to use the Services:
6.1.1 for business purposes or to sell on or supply the Services to anyone on a commercial basis;[/qoute]

I sent an email to work once, am I now permanently excluded from any help, support and fault fixing?
Ok, this is the other extreme, but it feels like a grey area, I would agree running a business and working from home are two different things, but "business purposes" is pretty vague.
Interesting isn't it.
Having run a business from home back in the 90's I think most services and taxes etc look at the main use of the property, and for most people running a business from home, it is mainly residential. I didn't have an ISP at that point though.

I used to access my work system from home but I would not class that as business use. It is fairly common for people to work at home for occasional days and I think it should be encouraged if it reduces road traffic.
I would expect that the ISPs are not worried about persons who connect to work via VPN, but I suspect they take a different view to persons running a business web site on a domestic set up.

Just ignore Woweebert otherwise he will just accuse you of being a troll.

Obviously Cornishweb is not a troll where as your post history proves beyond any doubt , that you are a TalkTalk Troll . that's another +2 and yet another post when i post ( Stalker ) .
Now i await one of your supporting Trolls , i guess as bilbo8 not here any more , your head troll as you where his supporting troll .
Interesting after our last spat you offered up some advice rather than going straight into Troll mode . which is at least an improvement on your normal posting style . Well done you .

As i also now have my work connection through BT with there enhanced care package and defined SLA . which is not cheap but needed for a office but is a bit over kill for working from home and not to mention very expensive .
There are other options for home workers that give a better balance of price and support TalkTalk or Sky are not one of those options .
as both have relatively slow fault resolution times and budget type support , two weeks for a modem to be sent out and the fact you obviously got a fault on your line and still have a fault .
would it be possible to see your line stats from your modem , to include errors and hopefully with a bit of uptime , also are you connected by WiFi or by cable to the modem ?

On the home page of this site is a link to a news story.
"Talk Talk the most complained about".
There are comparative graphs based on customer complaints to Ofcom
in the story.
Interestingly, if you go to the article, there is an advertisement for Talk Talk.
"The UKs safest broadband". Presumably your kids are safest because
the service is so bad they cannot access dodgy sites - or any sites.
This must be what Madmen call accurate targeting.

Yet another insight from Troll Hunter!

Kind of you to pay me this compliment

What an insult. I will be shamed for eternity.
By the way have you ever considered that your anti troll comments actually do the reverse of what you intend?

Hi no point in me putting stats up or trying anything i have done all this for months with talk talk and now i just want to leave them.
|
|

then you will need to be able to prove the connection is not fit for usage and all avenues have been explored to remedy the fault or you will incur charges for leaving early
But with out you being able or not willing to provide your router stats there is very little anybody can do on this forum to advise you further .
Ofcom is a last resort , if you really feel you have explored every option that you can ( which you have not as experienced users on this forum will tell you straight if its a line fault , just by your modem stats ) then Ofcom is the only way you will get out of your contract with out penalty but you will need to prove your case to Ofcom .
Ofcom wont get involved in reprimanding a ISP for a WiFi or home wiring fault so you will need to be able to prove its TalkTalk at fault and nothing your side of the telephone socket .

Just follow the procedure so TT can do all they can to resolve if you are not satisfied then escalate -http://help.talktalk.co.uk/app/answers/detail/a_id/2022
My views are my experiences.

There is a procedure you have to follow before the ombudsman will get involved outlined here.
Once you have followed that have received a deadlock letter from the CEO's office you can make a complaint with the ombudsman
As usual Woweebert is getting defensive and taking the focus away from the OP with a little help from TGV. As long as you can ignore their petty bickering and follow those procedure I pointed out you should get a satisfactory resolution.
The term "business use" is ambiguous, particularly as TT don't define it, but I would say that as long as you aren't directly making money from your internet connection then you will be fine.

Hi going to send a letter to talk talk Monday and wait for a reply. as i said we have BT at work only thing i use the internet at home for is xbox360 for the kids and some surfing but to be honest its a waste of time because its that bad

make sure the letter is sent recorded delivery , and keep a record of any telephone calls and correspondence you have between your self and TalkTalk .
I have been here for many years and have seen many people with connection problems , with the help of other forum users , we have been able to self diagnose there problems and get repairs sanctioned much quicker , sometimes by the ISP , as in you know where the problem is or by the Op them self , as in house wiring or simple changing the WiFi channel .
I cant promise a fix every time but the success rate is IMHO very high and much higher than some ISP customer support teams to include TalkTalk .
What is strange about your case , is you have said you have moved and the problem moved with you , which to me says you moved the problem with you , which says to me the problem is your side of the telephone socket .
