How to get Broadband ?

[link to this post]

Hiya
We took a jump to the dark side and signed with death for the talk talk service and free broadband...
Had 28th June as BB start date.
Talk talk send a letter to say they cant enable BB as there is a marker on the line ?
They say the marker is from the previous provider ???
Been no broadband before.......... (well, there sort of was, was cancelled before being put into use..)
checked with useless Homecall providor (who i never ever had a service with), they said they have nothing against my line..... Did help me out though...
they said it looks as though Talk talk are providing a service on the line, call barring, call forwarding, etc..... and that may cause problems.
Check with my with girl, she says she got the free answerphone service from talk talk, this is a Marker, this is a Marker provided by talk talk, so through there own stupidity, they cant setup broadband cos of this service they enabled, and i cant get hold of anyone with more sense than a monkey to ask em to turn this service off ! HELP!
Whose got a UK number for the department that has common sense ?

The only TalkTalk Department that seem to be able to do something is their "Options" Department, who ultimately don't want you to leave. (Basically a retention department)

While hiding your telephone number what is the full text that the checker at

www.btwholesale.com/getbroadband says for your line

are you honestly really this stupid?

so talktalk say that you have a marker on your line that is preventing them from putting the service on your line? you call homecall who say there iis no such service. they then go on to give you some bull**** advice about phone line services such as voicemail.

i have news for you buddy - homecall were being lazy when they cancelled your service and they left an adsl tag/marker on your line.

ask yourself one question, why would talktalk make that up? it is in their best interest to get you on their service asap. why would they ask you to speak to another provider (their competition), and give you an opportunity to be sold to unless they had a pretty damn good reason?

listen to the advice that you are given from the people who want to provide the service to you and call homecall and tell them to remove the marker from the line - if they still give you bull**** call ofcom and get a ref number to give to homecall - they will soon wake up to reality and remove it for you if you get ofcom involved.

That would suggest that there is reason to anything that TalkTalk do. Like the times they told me that they had submitted my MAC to BT Wholesale, only for someone at BT Wholesale to tell me that nobody had ever submitted a MAC. Only once I complained to Charles Dunstone in person did the 'faulty' MAC get submitted and go through without a hitch.

Lets face reality here, nobody at TalkTalk knows or cares what is going on with customers and it's been that way for a lot longer than they will admit.
