TT Tag problems

[link to this post]

Can anyone please help, a friend has got the TT3 int package and ordered BB. TT sent modem etc. and connection sttings with connection date (october!) no matter what it never connected. After months of calls etc TT blaming BT even though BB has never been on line theyfinally admit it is their (TT) tag. Problem is that no matter who we talk to they cannot seem to remove tag and reprovision the line - what can we do???

If there is a TT tag on the line there is no reason your broadband should not be working with talktalk. The only time it would need reprovisioning is if there is no tag on the line or another tag left by your previous provider in which case a MAC code would be required. Id suggest you give BT a call and ask them who has the active broadband marker on your line(if there is one)

checks should have been made by the sp (any gaining sp) on the suitability of the line before the broadband order was accepted.

TT said at first it was BT,s tag but now admit it is their tag, but they still insist that they will have to remove it and reprovision the line in order for it to work, are they making this up?

Sounds a bit odd, given no other provider seems to have to clear its own tag from the line to provide you with a connection.

Are you on an LLUservice or an IPStream service?

It can sometimes be the case that though a provider wishes to remove a service and has placed a cease in ECO. BT either incorrect records about the status of your line and need to be told to remove the marker or you need to ask TT to explicitly remove the marker via a cease.

Sometimes ceases can error on closure and this can lead to errors with changing the status. Give BT wholesale a ring on 0800 169 0934.

Alternativly, get a MAC code from TT. Please be aware they may charge you a cancellation fee on your contract, but I cant be certain as I dont know the particulars of your contract.

I'm assuming that your service is BT Wholesale based btw.

More often that not this is a BTW issue where they have advised that they will remove the marker but have not. They may have also failed to assign an engineer to unjumper you as the priority seems to be activations these days.
