Friend on Talk Talk with connection problem

[link to this post]

A friend of mine has recently gone on to Talk Talk and his line keeps dropping.

He was on fast path (below)

He has since got interleaving turned on (below) and his line isn't as unstable but strangely the errors are now all on the upstream channel ?

Anyone got any idea what is wrong?

He's on a Talk Talk LLU connection by the way.

Cheers.

p.s. he has tried connecting to the test socket but still gets the dropped connections so I don't think that internal wiring is to blame.

Sounds identical to the query I raised about my SO's connection here. I'll be very interested in any replies!

I realise that FEC errors don't much matter, but they shouldn't really be there...

Hi had so many upline faults that I could hardly sync about a month after being LLU'd. Connection went down so much it was slower than dial up, posted on here and nothing worked [fault could be crosstalk at the exchange]. But I found that by disabling upline bitswaping in the router that now it is 5081 Down 446 Up at 9/21 so try it and see Good Luck

I to am on TalkTalk

If it works get them to set your DS margin to 12 and you should be OK

I replied to that thread not knowing that it was a Talk Talk connection (I'm with Zen)

I'm not on Talk Talk as it was a query on behalf of someone else

The OP's downstream SNR margin is around 17 dB which is slightly higher than you say it should be set to.

Hi have just swapped my router over so I can tell you how to do it

Now lets start Browse to http://192.168.1.1 your router should get you into System Information on the left go to Basic enter and you will see a list The top one is ADSL Mode enter and you will see a list, the bottom one is Upstream Bitswap Disable it, you just Submit it. You have now done but remember to {Save All} on the Left hand side. Hope that helps

Sorry I took so long as I had to find The Router

Hallo, I'm the chap Curly was referring to and have signed up here. I did the upstream Bitswap as suggested but the errors are still on the upstream.
CRC Down/Up 0/255
FEC Down/Up 0/126483
HEC Down/Up 0/1713

That was at 08:02 this morning

At 07:17 they were

CRC Down/Up 0/233
FEC Down/Up 0/05301
HEC Down/Up 0/1498

So disabling the Bitswap hasn't done anything. Since TT put me on interleaving I haven't noticed any major disconnection problems but before I would go for days without a major problem. What I now have is the bandwidth is 3148/150 but the actual speed is much lower than this and erratic, I've just clocked 544/121 and it has ranged form the 544 up to 1383 up stream. So I'm continuing to monitor but any suggestions very welcome.

ADSL Status Showtime/Data
DSL Up Time 15:7:14
Data Path Interleaved
Standard RE-ADSL2
Bandwidth Down/Up(kbps) 3148/150
SNR Margin Down/Up(dB) 17.0/18.0
Attenuation Down/Up(dB) 45.5/25.0
CRC Down/Up 0/259
FEC Down/Up 0/126502
HEC Down/Up 0/1753

Try forcing the router to another mode like g.dmt. You can do this on the Huawei MT882 by selecting Basic -> ADSL mode and select g.dmt (or one of the other modes).
