30 quid joining fee

[link to this post]

Hi Speaking on behalf of my sister. Any reason why the 30 quid connection fee exists? and can migrations be done for free?
I presume the service will be Via LLU to TalkTalk..

Cheers

The connection fee used to be a modem charge. So it is probably still based on that plus all the connectors, filters and P&P.

If you sign up via Quidco you can get (non-guaranteed) 32 cashback, which will nicely offset the connection fee.

afraid not, any new customers are subject to a 30 connection fee. This is only waived for home movers.

30 even for customers migrating in?, lots of ISPs have free migrations in and monthly contracts now.

Is the 30 and 18 month contract subsidising the low monthly charge or are there extra costs associated with LLU lines being connected. Not having a go just a bit surprised at the charge.

Modems are provided free and you should take the complete 18 month cost of service into account when comparing like with like. Most cheap ISPs have a connection fee. Sky charge up to 60.

Thought most migrations in were free but must admit have not looked at the cheaper ISPs , TT and AOL ( share the gear in exchange?) have just enabled our local exchange so looking at them now,

Probably on TT site somewhere but can anyone tell me if caller display is included with TT or is it an extra.
Thanks
