VPN Connection Issues

I recently joined Talk Talk and have issues connecting to my work place through VPN at home. I need to access my work systems from home!

Previously when I was with orange or other places I could access work without any issues.

I am using an echolife hg520b router which came free.

When I don't try and connect to my work everything works fine and the speed is ok for my location and it doesn't disconnect. Plus the customer service have been helpful to a point...

What I am trying to find out is whether I can use VPN with Talk Talk?

I have spoken to 2nd line support and someone from the exec office and not really got a straight answer. Just that someone would call me or they would send out an engineer.

As it's a new router I can't find any information on the net on how to try and config it.

If I can use talk talk to connect would I be better off buying my own router to solve the problem?

At the moment I don't know whether it's a Talk Talk issue or a router issue.

I don't want to waste money on a router if that doesn't resolve the problem.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Tried the various setting as suggested and no luck

First up i would not of gone with TalkTalk on a mission critical connection that you need for work as TalkTalk are a domestic broadband supplier .
But that said , you should try members forum and see if thay can support your requirements .

We had been with Orange for years as domestic customers and did not have a problem. Same if we travelled to relatives places who don't use the net for work purposes and again didn't have any problems.

We asked Talk Talk before we signed up about connecting to work and wasn't told anything which suggested it would be a problem.

I went over the contract and nothing has been mentioned about VPN or blocking VPN connections.

It was only when we connected a few days ago to Talk Talk that connecting to the work VPN became a major issue.

We have asked Talk Talk and posted on their forum and nobody can explain what the problem seems to be whether it's a Talk Talk issue or a router issue. If it's the router then I could go out and buy a netgear one which should solve the problem. But I really need to understand the root of the problem first before I spend money resolving it.

What makes Talk Talk different?

i'm with talktalk and have no issues using vpn, although i'm not using the router they supplied i'm using my trusty netgear DG834GT...

like the op above, i used a DG834GT aswell, no issues connecting to my work ssl vpn

I don't have any issue with connecting to the net for general use. Only for work.

If I have to buy a netgear router and it solves the problem I would be quite happy with talk talk.

Are the netgear routers easy to configure to work with VPN's?

Thats pretty much my experience with routers until now.

Also, it's pretty much helpful that it's not a talk talk issue and may well be resolved by getting a netgear router.
