Is talktalk LLU any good now

[link to this post]

Hi All

I need to find a cheap alternative to O2 Broadband after continued speed problems and now 37 hours of downtime this weekend and still counting...

Please post your thoughts about talktalk, the good and the bad performance and CS wise. If anyone from Canterbury can comment on the peek time speed that would be most helpful!

Thanks.

If your into your P2P , stay away from TalkTalk or except that they shape it to death during peak times .
My mother connection seems more than fine for what she pays and she has my sister and her family camped up at her house , whilst they wait to move into there new house .

So i went to the members forum got her target SN margin reduced from the ridiculous 9.5 to 6 and got the line set on Fastpath and boosted it with Speed boost and download boost .
And it totally works with XboX live , even my two nephews have said just how out standing the connection has been and that its so much better than there old BT connection .

No surprise to me as she has 22/1mb connection on fast path with traffic shaping that keeps online game play and normal internet usage fluid with a big enough usage cap to keep a very internet hungry family content .

My mother TalkTalk connection has been nothing but out standing .

TalkTalk telephone support is right up there as the worst there is , but there members forum works so well .
So don't go to to TalkTalk and expect O2 style telephone support , its not going to happen , it really is that bad .
But the members forum works really well with active members flagging up users post for support staff to help , and this happens quickly during the day.
I made the request for my mothers line in the forums and they went active with in 20 minutes .

P2P can always be done at work on a nice fat uncontended fibre smile so I'm not too worried about that. Right now anything that is stable and 2Mbps or more would be dream come true.

Just remember it is an 18 month contract - I would have tried Talktlak myself if it wasn't for that.

cheers

Well due to the fact I needed to save some money, I jumped ship from Plusnet, who served me well for over 4 years. This is my first day with TalkTalk, actually not even 1 hour since I went live with Talktalk today. Well here is my speed with Plusnet from this morning at 0651 http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest/...
and here is my speed from this evening with Talktalk
http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest/...

I don't know what Talktalk is like re p2p, Skyplayer, BBCi player and the like... that remains to be seen.

Well, here's crossing my fingers....

GUILTY AS CHARGED!

I'm blaming the credit crunch, plus the mrs who said kids are on the internet too much, so figured if TalkTalk are rubbish then they won't be on the internet so much as the service will be erratic and/or down....

I SUCCUMBED TO TEMPTATION... NO EXCUSE... I'M GETTING WHAT I PAY FOR...

But how far ar you from the exchange? If you are pretty close then you should be getter better speeds with Talk as they use ADS2+. Also how long will it last? I have heard that people get good speeds for the first 30 days and once that is over it goes back to normal.
