HI there thanks for reading this post
i was recently upgraded to FIBRE 76 mbps , before i was getting a constant 11 mpbs , no drop out at all how ever since upgrading i get 3 or 4 drop out a day , i either wait 5 minutes or reset the router to have it back on , the speed is great wired however wireless i never get more than 32 mbps ( on 5 ghz even as close as possible to it )
when i was upgraded i was promised a new router HG635 but they sent me the exact same router i already had HG 633 so pointless , i called them so they said the me that's the one they send out now as they discontinued HG635 so lack of informations when i upgraded.
i am guessing the wireless speed is down to the router ( as i managed to 95 mbps on virgin media with an iphone wireless ) unless you have any ideas ?
how ever any help would be appreciated on the dropping out ?

I don't actually use wired connection so I wouldn't know ( only used wired to test ), but all devices get disconnected when that happens , nothing to do with channels ( as I had no troubles before upgrading )

Try the old router, you say it's the same model. The new one might just be faulty.
Also yes HG633 is newer than HG635, the model numbers are misleading, you have the best router talktalk offer.

When the devices drop - does a Talktalk pop up appear saying your internet has gone offline and it provides trouble shooting steps to get you back online?
If so that indicates the line is dropping, otherwise it is unlikely to be an issue with the line itself.

No messages showing at all ,I'm just unable to load pages for 3 or 4 minutes then it gets back on ,
I'm guessing the router is poor quality , 5 ghz is not great either why don't I get full speed on 5ghz mode?

What is your DSL uptime?
Is the line disconnecting its sync and having to re-sync?, another common problem with talktalk is that they (when I was with them) had the connection disconnect when idle, its in the internet connection settings, you want it to never disconnect/always on.
Try changing this and see what happens.
TT Forum Same Fault.
General Help Guide, it does affect fibre, its talking rubbish, its a generic router setting with TT, and needs to be changed.

I believe fibre talktalk routers default to use VDSL IP routing (IP) mode. It is hidden until you connect a FTTC connection, it then kicks in, this mode does not have the 30 minute time out setting as ADSL2+ does.
This mode only exists on HG633 and 635 models, the older routers did time out.

so only going on past experience.

I'll have to check about sync however the idle option , not the issue because it happens while using it and also I don't think the idle option is in hg633 but previous router I think ?

You will not get full speeds over wireless without split SSIDs, simple as.
You must connect to 5Ghz.

HG633 can pull faster speeds over wireless, I know, I have tried.

Didn't channels on 5ghz but I'll try , currently set on auto , do 5 ghz overlap each other like others do ?

Been testing with iPhone 6 ( can get up to 96 Mbps on Virgin at my friend's )

Best advice I can give you is to get a HG635 on eBay. They're the older model but it is probably the best ISP supplied router I have ever used.
HG633 has a fair few wireless issues. Mines in a box.
Talktalk cannot supply them anymore as they are the router supplied around 1 year+ ago.
Just login at 192.168.1.1 and verify your connection uptime for me. It does not drop out during the drop outs right?

TalkTalkCare their they had issues with 635 that's why they stopped sending it out , if I was to get a router , what kind of router I should get ? Fibre router ? Or just a regular router ?

Just forget about Huawei hg63x and buy a half decent vdsl2 router such as the TP link VR900 for 120 notes. Problem solved.

Honestly mate my HG633 gets around a million errors on the wireless side in a few hours. Throughout for me is stuck around 60Mbps and 2.4Ghz often drops out. Talktalk forums are plagued with users complaining of wireless error build up on the HG633.
My HG635 gets 350Mbps on internal network transfers (that's more than 4x faster than the 80Mbps product). It has also not been rebooted in 2 months and has no issues.
It gets range where my HomeHub 5 cannot, in two back bedrooms, both routers are side by side.
It has better coverage in my home than the nethear nighthawk at £140.
I cannot recommend it enough. You can grab one on eBay for relatively cheap, probably less than £20 on auction and I think it'll solve the majority of your issues.
As I say Talktalk do not supply them anymore, but I have used all sky routers, the Virginmedia superhub, superhub 2 AC, superhub 3, HomeHub 4, 5, 5A, netgear nighthawk, TP Archer C9 AC router. The HG635 has proven to be the most stable router I have ever used to date, in my entire life. I would say it's the best ISP supplied device I have ever laid my eyes on.
The HG633 by contrast I would rate as the lowest, alongside the original Virginmedia superhub. It really was such a headache and since boxing it up my stress levels have dropped significantly.
It might be ok at ADSL2+ speeds but there is something seriously wrong with it. Interestingly all the reviews online ive seen for the Talktalk superhub are based on the HG635, not the 633.
Bite the bullet get a 635, seperate the 2.4 and 5Ghz bands and jobs a good one.
Just verify your line is not dropping before buying as I suggested.

Just realised one of my mate has talktalk but not fibre optic , he owns a hg635 , I'm gonna try to swap it with mine , do I need to put my talktalk username and password anywhere in his router ? Or just plug and play?

Plug and play, but honestly nobody deserves a HG633 being swapped out for their 635. Be a nice guy and let him keep it.
Worth mentioning, HG635 were only ever supplied with fibre optic so it seems unlikely, he probably has a HG533.

So file transfers happen at between 35MB/s and 52MB/s.
This is in the context of my fibre line, which only downloads at 4.5MB/s (On 40Mbps product over here).
So yes you can easily pull full speeds wirelessly.
That said, where I use my laptop normally is 4 walls thick away, and doesn't even get 5Ghz signal. I just use 2.4Ghz and get slow speeds. At some stage I will run an ethernet cable and setup a second AP.

Macbook does not have an ethernet cable unfortunately else I would give it a whirl.
They are selling HG635s on ebay for £25 posted on Buy It Now. It's worth a go, given the net loss isn't that high if it fails.

I used a HG635 on a BT connection because the HomeHub 5 is that bad. Throughout drops to sub 10Mbps on a type B way too often.
The HG635 will sort you out I am sure.

I used one of those, it's made of copper coated aluminium and magnesium - burns completely in a flame. It was twisted pair so better than a flat phone cable but not as good as solid copper UTP that I got from Tandy.

Finally received the router hg635 , speed test wireless 65 Mbps so great however I had to make 2 different wireless name for it as before I couldn't go higher than 40mbps , it's been on for 3 hours and no drop so far but I'm gonna wait before I celebrate ,
5ghz wireless is much better on this router I can go all over the house with it , even with one or 2 bars it's very solid and still get around 50 Mbps down and 18 Mbps upload

Yes you must split the wireless SSIDs otherwise most devices will go onto the 2.4Ghz band, since this band is lower frequency and therefore has a stronger signal, devices are programmed to connect into the SSID with best signal rather than the one with the best bandwidth.
It's a common issue with virtually all routers.
Glad it has resolved your issues. As I say the range on the HG635 is brilliant and in my home is better than the latest BT smart Hub which they're advertising everywhere as the UKs best wifi coverage. That's because they tested their smart hub against the HG633.
It's a great little device, I would recommend it to anybody. The 633 has some serious issues with wireless.

Talktalk asked me to return equipment, but only one of the routers.
iPhones generally detect the 2.4Ghz networks before 5Ghz ones, so often go into that SSID. If in the same room as the home router, they do sometimes see the 5Ghz signal is strong and move onto that band. When the RSSI is below -60, ie through one or two walls, I find iPhones stick on 2.4Ghz.
Newer routers have a feature called "band steering." This feature basically detects which devices are dual band capable, then when it sees a dual band iPhone connecting at 2.4Ghz, with a decent signal strength, the router physically blocks the device logging into the 2.4Ghz band, thereby forcing it to use 5Ghz. This does solve the issue. In business environments you often see this setup, but not commonly in the home. This is why at work, your iphone etc probably roams onto 5Ghz... The only ISP equipment that has this feature is the new BT Hub, but the feature has not yet been enabled in the firmware, it shows "coming soon."

Another question my laptop doesn't support 5ghz so looking to buy a dongle, I see two different speed for 5 ghz one is 867 Mbps speed ( more expensive)and most common one is 433 Mbps would I see a big difference in speed ??? Also some of them come with antennas and others are really tiny so more practical , is there a big difference on wifi signal with the antennas ?
Which one would you recommend ?

The 867Mbps ones are likely to support 2 spatial streams (via 2 antenna) of 433Mbps each, using 80MHz of spectrum (ie 4 consecutive channels). The 433Mbps ones are likely to support a single stream using 80MHz.
You'll only see more speed from the 867Mbps dongles if the AP or router also supports multiple spatial streams.
Exactly how much speed will depend on the spectrum used - 20, 40 or 80MHz.

Get a wireless AC card. I would say go for the best you can get, my macbook supports 867 I believe, could be higher.
