Hi All,
This is my first post on here but I will say that I'm not a total newbie, having worked in Eire introducing Static and Wireless Broadband way back in 1997. Speeds have got better, but oh dear how standards of customer service have slipped!
But i digress...
My issue is that I have now got Demon broadband and right from the start I've had serious issues with the implementation. The line didn't work at all initially, so I had a BT visit to the exchange (where apparently the MUX was not wired up correctly) and also to my property.
The BT engineer diligently checked my line and confirmed (as I live within 1K from the exchange) that I was good for 8Mb.
Unfortunately the best I can get is 3.4Mb and Demon have confirmed that my line speed has been set at 2.6Mb (with variations a la MaxADSL).
After several frustrating conversations with Demon (including numerous calls not returned as promised) they conceded that there was a problem, especially when I presented my reasonably good line stats.
I have been given several 'tests' to try but I'd liek a bit of a peer review of my line stats to make sure that the consensus view is that my line is able to support higher speeds than I am currently enjoying.
The stats are:
ADSL Link / Downstream / Upstream
Connection Speed / 7616 kbps / 448 kbps
Line Attenuation / 15.5 db / 12.0 db
Noise Margin / 10.6 db / 16.0 db
Any thoughts?
SS
