ADSL Connection Problem

Hi all,

Just wondered if anyone can give me sme pointers as to how I can test my DSL upload and download speed?.

I'm with Nildram and have reported a probem which as in turn gone to BT . I have a line sync of 3MB or so and when I use the test speed section of this site my download is something like 0.2 Mb 200Kb. I have tried a new modem filters and both lines into my house and the speed issue is still the same. Nildram have been very good with there support and as mentioned passed the fault to BT, but before any enginner come out I wondered if there anything else I can do to check the upload and download speed?..

I also have drop outs in the connection and a friend in the same location a couple of streets away has a slower speed them myself.

Any ideas people..

I think you mean 3Mb/s [Mega bits per second]. Note the lower case 'b', meaning bits. Upper case 'B' means bytes, so straight away a confusion factor of 8

Here, I'll assume you mean Mb/s.

Can you confirm?

Try that, will let us know your IP Profile for your line which should help us work out why your line is slow.

If it doesn't work now try it late tonight.
