My adsl max was activated recently, and i always get a sync speed of 8096kbps. After three days my throughput speed finally went up from 2000 to 7000. But then i tried moving my hub to somewhere else in the house using an extension cable and another filter. The extension must be bad or something because when i turned the hub back on it synced at 3500, so i moved it back. Now it sync at 8096 again but my throughput has been limited to 3000. Im still in the training period so will this go back up after a few days or have I screwed up this process?
I think you are a little confused. After 10 days the line sets a MSR - Minimum Stable Rate. This is the minimum speed your line has achieved, and BT will use this as a base line, should you ever want to complain about the service - they won't entertain complaints unless your sync speed drops to 70% of the MSR. Your line will continue to rate adapt for as long as you are on Max ADSL, so if you sync reliably at 8Mbps again, your line profile will return to what it was before.
But won't BT set his MSR to 3000 which means he can't complain unless he syncs at less than 2100 in the future? This might be rather annoying if his line can actually make 7000 say. If he hadn't moved the kit he could have complained when the line hit 4900.
