Hi,
My friend has a Virgin NTL250 modem connected via the WAN port of a Dynamode BR6004W-G-N wireless router.
He has two computers, an old Mesh desktop and a Packard Bell laptop (Easynote?). The desktop pc connects via the router/modem via cat5e ethernet with no problems and the laptop also connects via wireless also with no problems. However, when I try to connect via the laptop's ethernet port I get the "Cable disconnected" windows error message. and the relevant LAN port light on the router is unlit. The ethernet port on the laptop appears to be ok, the laptop connects fine via my own BT home hub ethernet port.
I am using DHCP on the router - coulld this be a problem for this particular modem router combo? i.e. assign an address (static address) to the two computers? I also read somewhere that you had to MAC spoof a second pc to a NTL modem/router combo but I thought that Virgin had stopped this nonsense?
I have tried the usual reboot order things - turn off modem and router, leave a little time, boot modem, then reboot router to no avail.
If this is a Technical FAQ, forgive the post, could someone let me have the link?
