Hi

What actual difference does the lower synch speed actually make to your throughput from your ISP. Might be worth losing a little throughput .

quote : [i]So, we arranged for BT to set the SNR margin back to 12db, which corrected the issue, only for it to get bumped upto 15db again.

What caused it to be bumped up (the dslam must have seen something ). Too many reconnections in a short space of time can cause that to happen .

Regards Jeff

Well as I'm now syncing much lower than 8128 my BRASS profile has shifted to 6500 from 7150 and I see exactly that reduction in throughput.

OK so it's only 650Kbps but I do notice a difference, especially when I have 2/3 VoiP calls running concurrently with various members of the household watching the last 10 episodes of some pointless tat on iPlayer. I need to review my QoS settings and bandwidth throttles but really it's only those certain times when 'it's all kicking off'.

Besides that it's turned into more of a matter of principle - but still, I really don't know what I'd do if I had to move home and found I only got 1Mbps like many so I should perhaps put up and shut up.

In my case, as to what bumped it up - not sure, other than I have seen BT (Openreach) working around the corner for the past month ;0)
