Just for information, I have just experienced an outage of several days due, it turns out to defective Talktalk kit in my exchange (I am with A&A).

However, what is interesting in the context of this attenuation issue is that while every router I try shows it to be around 50dB, yet I sync at speeds consistent with the original 34dB or so, the little magic black box the BT guy uses shows the attenuation to be at the expected figure, 35.8dB yesterday.

Such things are sent to try us I guess.
