UK Regional Settings for VOIP

I'm on Plusnet FTTP and until recently have been using a TP-Link Archer VR900 router with a separate Fanvil ATA for VOIP phone calls. It's been reasonably reliable and stable except for a couple of niggles !

I'm now using a Fritzbox 7530 (ex ZEN restored to NON ZEN firmware - V7.59) using the same cordless phone on the Fritzbox’s internal ATA (Fon 1 socket).

The 'niggle' I'm now have is being unable to set the incoming call ring pattern to the UK pattern. Apparently you can do this with a DECT connected phone although some 'Help' literature suggests it can be done with the Fon 1 socket also?

Anyone had this issue or know of a solution.

No answers, sorry … but a genuine question.

Is your issue that the cadence of the ring on incoming calls is different to what you are used to ?

Yes it is ! On my old ATA you could set the cadence to 400/200,400/2000m/sec which sounds like a UK phone ringing. The default is 2000/4000m/sec which is the USA style. In point of fact you can set it anything you like.

Many VoIP suppliers send out pre-configured VoIP adapters because of exactly this issue with ring cadences. You can sort it out manually, but it's a lot easier with someone doing it that knows what they're at.

When on TBB we advocate splitting the broadband supplier from the VoIP supplier, an ISP supplied router with inbuilt ATA which could be used with the supplier of your choice becomes a daughting task for some. Even with a dedicated VoIP someone has to configure it.
