Re: Orange - IP Profile

[re: XRaySpeX] [link to this post]

"Broadband & Anytime Calls - with your Orange pay as you go mobile phone - £10.00 a month plus £12.75 Orange line rental (total £22.75 a month), up to 8 Meg speed, wireless router, unlimited usage allowance (fair use policy applies), inclusive anytime UK landline telephone calls to 01, 02, 03, 0845 and 0870 numbers"

Little further down it says :-

"Why not upgrade to BB & Off Peak Calls and benefit from unlimited superfast broadband and evening and weekend calls to UK landlines"

"We've checked out your line and your estimated speed is 17.0 Meg".

That seems like a package downgrade to me but increased broadband?

I feel I'm being screwed over.

For that package & price you should be on their up to 20 Meg speed w/out changing to another package.

Your exchange did not have WBC when you joined, for Orange not to put you on 20 Meg. If you upgrade now it will be

"Broadband & Anytime Calls - with your Orange pay as you go mobile phone - £10.00 a month plus £13.50 Orange line rental (total £23.50 a month), up to 20 Meg speed, Bright Box wireless router, unlimited usage allowance (fair use policy applies), inclusive anytime UK landline telephone calls to 01, 02, 03, 0845 and 0870 numbers"

It would only cost you 75p to upgrade to 20 Meg and you can ask for a new router with the new package. wink

OP does not seem to be offered that in his Members Centre. Instead he says he is offered Broadband and Anytime Mobile Calls for £15 + £13.50 line rental = £28.50, i.e. £5.75 extra.

You dont take any notice of what it says for his upgrade from the account details, my account says I am on 8 Meg Max when I am on 20 Meg WBC. crazy

This morning 11:30 after reading this thread I upgraded my own account, now having included my mobile phone to get the £5 discount. I phoned sales 0800 079 2000 option 2 and asked them to upgrade my account, also asked them for a new free Bright Box router which is included.

Broadband and off-peak calls - with Orange mobile phone contract - £5.00 a month plus £13.50 Orange line rental (total £18.50 a month), up to 20 Meg speed, new Bright Box wireless router, unlimited usage allowance (fair use policy applies), evening and weekend UK landline telephone calls included.

I have my mobile phone on Dolphin 7 SIM only, 12 months contract £7 per month http://shop.orange.co.uk/mobile-phones/price-plans/p...

I get, 20 Meg speed broadband, landline phone with free evening & weekend calls, landline rental, SIM only mobile phone contract. Total £25.50 per month on 12 months contract, really chuffed. smile

Exactly, you phone them to get what you want, as we have already advised OP.

You do however enter anther 12 m contract.

Well, called them and finally got through to someone who knows what I am talking about. Aparently my profile should be around 7.15.

They ran a line test ( turns out they never did one the other day as their system was down ) and there is a fault at the exchange which is causing the profile to stay so low.

An engineer is booked and expect a call back from Orange in 2-4 working days with their findings. Once this issue is resolved I'll give them to try to move me over to WBC..wouldn't mind a brightbox also, the DGN1000 has a terrible wireless range!...and now I have two.

How dishonest and failing in their jobs. Someone needs disciplining! Worth a complaint when they call to check on progress.

Not for you home, I hope! They have a habit of sending the wrong eng.

Well, it's been over a week and although I did receive a call checking the quality of the landline nothing has changed. I spoke to the Fault Management team yesterday who told me although an engineer has been to the exchange there is still a fault on the line which is capping my ip profile...although the line sync is fine??

They also told me I should be able to get at least 17meg on the line. Anyhow I have to give them another 48 hours to repair the fault and reset my ip. I've written a letter of complaint also..it's taking far too long!
