That makes sense now, but the OP is showing a second socket next to this one. Doesn't seem easy to find which one the new drop wire is going into initially.

I will take pictures in a bit of them all unscrewed so you can see the wires etc and I'll give that a try the test socket and filter but as I said before the modem doesn't find a connection at all but I'll try it again to make sure thank you all.
