That's like the old war time saying when things didn't go as expected. "There is a war on you know" smile

"Whatever " was the word used by yourself which intimates that you were not really bothered. This may have bothered some people which in turn escalated in to a bit of a stand off.

Surely your friend knew what they'd ordered as this would make a difference to the answer to your question.

In this post you could have supplied the details without the sarcasm.

Nope, friend is an academic at the local university, can talk for hours on sociological theory but struggles to do a shop at Tesco.

More likely that no one had a clue, myself included, why BT did not supply a correct or amended install date. ADSL or infinity makes no difference IMO.

It's quite obvious that it happened in this way because of Christmas and Openreach have had volunteer arrangements in place over the Christmas period.

We don't know they didn't smile.

You may not remember the original Subject was "BT Infinity", but in the OP we only had ADSL mentioned, apart from getting nowhere with BT Help about the cabinet.

My first reply, admittedly somewhat terse, picks up on these discrepancies, whereupon the poster got shirty.

Given that the amended Subject and posts make it clear that at the time the poster hadn't a clue what had been ordered, and that the poster now refers to his friend's organisational difficulties, we cannot know that any delay had not been notified to the customer. It could have been in an email, either to the old address or to the new one.

Furthermore, if the BT ordering system allows a selection of installation dates in the order process, most of us know that is highly unlikely to be adhered to. If that was what was being relied upon then it is most unfortunate.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 57.1/14.8Mbps @ 600m. - IPv4BQM IPv6BQM

Ah, but, we can know that the order amendments were not notified to the customer because yours truly.............me................. was monitoring his, the customers, e-mails for just such an update. No calls or messages either.

The first anyone knew that the broadband service was activated was the light on the Modem went, and stayed, blue. He rang me as we don't live together.

BT's communication skills, given they are a communications company, are atrocious.
