Cap in hand....

It seem the laggy behaviour of some major websites (Linkedin, Twitter etc.) was not Hey!'s fault, but rather an issue with the latest version of Chrome and the AdBlock extension.

I removed AdBlock and installed uBlock Origin instead and the issue was resolved.

Posting in case anyone else has this issue.

I've been using uBlock Origin for years & am still seeing some odd slowness. It could certainly be Chrome related though, I do consistently have too many tabs open...

Though even my Unraid server has been sluggish in connecting to github and will take 30+ seconds to download a few mb of script updates that would normally flash through without even seeing them.

If I have some time at some point I'll turn off my HB connection & try the same sites/apps through my TalkTalk connection instead (on a day that connection is stable...).

The only issue I have with sites is YouTube. I get buffering and I have to force a lower bit rate to get an uninterrupted stream. Tried iPad, macOS, different browsers etc. They all do it. Speedtests and latency tests during the same time show no issue.

Very odd.

Is anyone else here in Bridge mode, if so what router are you using?]

I've had nothing but problems with these jokers it been going on for months.

The customer service is terrible, even though I've had service outages for 6 days, and I pay for the 1 day SLA.

I can only get an non heybroadband MX4200 router to get my assigned DHCP address, but this sometimes drops and doesn't get the IP.

I have tried connecting my laptop to the ont to get an IP, I can see in wire shark sends the request and it doesn't get a response, this is the same for TP-LINK, Netgear.

Anyone else had this issue?

I use a Draytek 2865 plugged into the HB provided TPLink Archer GPON router in bridge mode since 2022. Has always worked well.

I know of another HB customer that had similar issues to you. His own router would not get a routable IP from HB.......but he could ping the default gateway. Just nothing past it. Remotely Support weren't very good. He insisted that an engineer come to see the problem for himself. The engineer replaced the ONT and re-provisioned the service and he's been fine ever since.

Anyone else experience a roughly 8 minute outage between 17:38-17:46 today?

Connection went to 100% packet loss and stayed there until it came back.

https://heybroadband.co.uk/network-status is reporting a 504 Gateway Time-out tongue

I'm using an Asus RT-AC86U, and don't have any issues.

(other than my connection just stopped working, I rebooted the router, and now I can't access status.heybroadband.co.uk of some other random sites!)

Yes we just had that outage (West Ealing). Seems to have been many areas affected according to their status checker
