Is anyone here currently on a 95.82.x.x IP? I've moved back to that range again after an outage but this is the range I always have problems with. I can't access Santander online banking, or Churchill for my car insurance.

If anyone is on that range, would you mind checking a couple of sites to see if it's just me?

https://retail.santander.co.uk/olb/app/logon/access/ gives me a "not available in your current location" error message (don't need an account to check this, I can't even access the login page)

https://www.churchill.com/ just times out with a cannot be reached error.

https://experian.co.uk is the same as Churchill

There are lots of others that are less impactful but still annoying. Can't open any links from Sainsburys or Argos emails, for example.

Last time this happened just over two weeks ago, I was told in the email reply "Please be advised that you can also take up a Static IP add-on at £5 per month". There's no way I'm paying an extra fiver per month just to be able to access my online banking & car insurance through the full fibre connection I'm already paying for!

Edit: Just realised why it took me a while to notice I was back on that subnet. My BQM is still working because someone else has already been assigned the IP I had before...

Yup! I'm on that IP currently and none of those sites work correctly, or only partially work like the Santander site.

I wonder if you get a faster connection to my servers speed test now we're on the same range?

It seems to me there's some kit not set up correctly on this particular network that's probably causing all of the issues we've been having.

I'm getting less than FTTC speeds to your connection this morning. 58.5 down, 19.3 up (Ookla speedtest is pretty normal at 880/930). I turned my test back on if you want to try it. speed.kans.one.

If I run the test against my own server via Cloudflare, I get 742/86 (should be a very simple out & back connection). There's definitely something fishy still going on with routing.

It doesn't go through Europe any more like it did a few weeks ago, but does still have a hop in the US. Last time I logged a ticket I was even getting ads on Twitch & Youtube in French occasionally as my connection was routing through France to some sites (Also Poland & Finland at one point). https://gsuite.tools/traceroute shows a good visual trace.

Edit: Doing a trace to my own external IP address goes out to Spain & back...

Hi Kans
I have been in that 95.82 range before and it is troublesome.

More recently - thankfully for a little while now - I am in 185.190.92.0/23.
I would recommend it - no issues at all with routing, latency, packet loss, speed.

If you disconnect and reconnect your router you should be able to get into this WAN subnet after some attempts.
I have my own router which allows me to request a new IP from DHCP which makes it quite quick for me to move WAN subnets. If you cant do that, you can power down your ONT for some period of time (maybe a few hours..?) and then you should get a new address when it reconnects.

Yeah, i can confirm that. I just reset the WAN interface in openwrt and ended up on 82.153.x.x and I can now access all of the sites you listed.

Both ranges are routed from London, to Toronto, back to london, and then Madrid before coming to my server near London. madness!

Resetting your connection is a workaround, yes. I'd much rather HB tried to actually fix the problem though. By reporting it to them and their support needing to do something to move a connection to a working subnet, hopefully they will actually look into the cause and fix it...

I sent them an email yesterday & they have just forced my connection to a different network ~19 hours later (actually twice to 2 different subnets). It's not a bad response time to an email to be honest. With a bit of luck someone will properly investigate the cause & get it fixed for everyone.

I'm now on 95.111.x.x which is working fine so far.

Agree 100% with the sentiment but I got bored with attempting to contact support. As far as my experience is concerned, it's a black hole with no outcome (after many many attempts).

...and I'm back on 95.82.x.x after less than 8 hours.

I guess I'll have to give up and join the disconnect/reconnect club  Maybe I'll look for a script I can install on my pfSense firewall to automatically cycle the connection if it gets put on that subnet.

Not a fix, more of a workaround but do you have an account with a retail VPN provider (Nord, Express VPN etc)? You could put in a rule into pfSense to route traffic to those troublesome sites down the tunnel to workaround.

I have to do with YouTube on weekday mornings between 8am and 9am as YouTube just has severe performance problems on my connection. Only Youtube, everything else works fine.

I do have a VPN set up on my firewall but I also have a second internet connection that I can force the problematic sites through to.

There are plenty of workarounds I could use when I fall onto that IP range but I'm sure there are lots of other customers who have far less technical know-how, who are likely calling up Santander, Churchill and/or other affected providers complaining about their websites not working...
