Connection Problems

[link to this post]

Has anyone been having any sort of connection problems over the past few days?

My connection was fine until say 2 days ago and then my download speed started getting less and less and now its all over the place and even webpages timeout.

Just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem.

Haven't had webpages timing out but definitely noticed a slower connection. Hopefully just a weekend problem due to everyone (most anyway) being at home over the bank holiday weekend - not just on Virgin Media's network but all the others as well.

1 in 5 websites time out with me for some reason.

Tried resetting the modem a few times, and even tried switching the pc and modem off over night last night and its the same.

Downloads on every site start at around 2.74mb/s and dwindle over about 10 seconds to just under 600k.

Not at home during the week so can't check internet speed apart from via VNC but that could give lower results. However it seemed fine last time checked it. Maybe a local problem.

No not just you my connection is varying wildly between 6 and 0.7 during the last few days. Gameplay has been impossible.

Yes, on one or two random evening each week, the connection slows down and then effectively stops working (I can't do anything online, although strictly speaking it's still connected, just very slow and lossy).

Because of VM's non-existant customer service and their use of a premium rate number, I've now written a good old postal letter to complain, and am strongly considering leaving them for the new Be Value service (which is 4x as fast, unlimited, for 4 less than I pay now).
