Traffic Management Changed?

[link to this post]

I just had a look at http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html/internet/traffic.html, and I noticed their daytime management is the same as the evening management. Could we take it they have removed the 1000-1500 traffic management on all packages or could this just be a mistake?

VM does have traffic management in force from 10am to 3pm and from 4pm to 9pm 7 days a week. That's work out 10 hours of traffic management each day. Only freedom non-traffic management is just 1 hour between 3pm and 4pm each day and between 9pm and 10am (that's was 13 hours each day) overall 14 hours of non-traffic management each days.

No metion of XLL 50Mb traffic management yet ?

It does say on that page...

"Updated traffic management policy

We're making some changes to our traffic management policy. We think the overall impact will be that fewer people will be affected by the traffic management policy".

So appears to be less of a mistake. . . . not that it matters much to me as I'm at work during the day.

I have amended my p2p settings so if I trigger STM in the daytime I will post here.

The last time I checked the newsgroup support, there was discussion about which page was correct the previous page which is well known in this forum BUT NOW REMOVED (404) or the new page mentioned in this thread.

The last time I looked, the VM support guys appeared to believe that nothing should have been changed and the new page is an error.

answers your question.

Poster Guy

which is completely different to

http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html/internet/traffic.html

which one is right?

Virgin Media Guy

The former - we'll get this sorted.

My guess is that the new page may be what is intended but there is just a time period error. Daytime instead was 10:00 - 16:00 which it might be or 21:00 - 16:00 which it very well could be. In any event, the 6 GB ?? daytime threshold has been reduced to 3 GB.

Rather than read and speak riddles, suggest that all interested take a look at the Virgin Media support broadband cable newsgroup - THREAD - A question about STM

I'd suggest the When does it apply? Is wrong for the daytime management, as why repeat the text you have above.

Someone has copy/pasted the table elements, and then forgot to edit the cell content I expect. If still there on Tuesday can someone prod me, to prod Virgin Media, or I could stand up and ask at the XXL launch

Ask at the launch, it'd sure as hell make them fumble.

The Traffic Management page we know has been cached by Google.

Here is the link

http://74.125.77.132/search?q=cache:GO5Q9kvWM2MJ:www.virginmedia.com/help/traffic-management.php+virginmedia.com/help/traffic-management&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&client=safari

I confirm that the page does give 6 GB as the day time threshold.

I download over 4GB between 10am-11am today and didn't get throttled, so I think it's just a typo.
