Early cancellation fee?

Hey folks,

I have been living in Liverpool for a few years and this year I moved to another house temporarily. But when I phoned Virgin Media they failed to tell me when I moved my broadband over the 12 month contract would be refreshed. As such when I move out next week, because I have 6 months left on my contract I got charged £86. I was under the impression there was a set fee of terminating your services early?
