well i've pre-registered... but to honest i'm not overly fussed about it. will totally depend on how much extra it costs over my existing 50mb connection.

£7 extra over 50Mbps plus install and the mysterious (to me) activation charge.

If you can't fix it with a hammer you've got an electrical problem.

nothing mysterious about activation or install costs being applied in this case..

it is a new service and overheads can't just be written off because the customer is an existing
one..if the install and overhead costs were just written off then they would be passed
on to the customer in one way or another.

higher monthly service costs is the way it would go i expect.

VM is a buisness not a charity and at the end of the day the more Successful they are Financially
then the better the end product will be for the customer.....

i never had any problems with paying the install and activation charge for the 50Mb upgrade
and i wont have any objection to paying again for the 100Mb upgrade.

looking forward to getting 100Mb installed. wink

edit: haha wink rather than remove this part of my post :'i never had any problems with paying the install and activation charge for the 50Mb upgrade'....i shall just edit it and leave it there but add this.:

mrs djfunkdup has just reminded me that i never paid install or activation charges when upgraded to 50Mb. they were doing a 6 week deal that got the charges waivered.....but i will be Honest and say that i would have paid them if required to do so .wink

You see I am going to wait for this one. I was an early adopter to 50MB and I paid £50 install fee. Then they started to offer it for free.

However if there is a new modem required that's fair enough, I have gone back to 10mbps for now but I have the 50Mbps mode.

how much are the install and activation charges likely to be? have they been announced?

plus i assume it would lock me into another 12 month contract.

The install cost I understand - that is paying for the new modem (or in this case hub) it is the separate "activation" charge I can't figure out. What does that £20 pay for? Why don't they combine the charges?

but the modem always remains the property of virgin media. i assume the charge must be simply to cover an engineer coming to your house unplugging the old modem, and plugging in the new one. i assume they have to do stuff at the backend to switch you to 100mb as well.

i think that the install and activation fee will be £30 + £30..for new customers

i also think that if you are already on the 50Mb service then the upgrade cost will be just £30 for activation as the 50Mb modem is already Compatible with the 100Mb service,so there will be no need for an install engineer to attend your property..

i could be wrong but if i remember the install engineer that came here to install my 50Mb said that this modem is Compatible right up to 200Mb

and yea i would expect another 12mnth contract will be required for activation wink

i would imagine the only reason they don't combine the charges as you say,is because it would then make the install cost look higher and then maybee put customers off..

so they split it into smaller charges .

and yea we all no it amounts to the same thing....its just marketing m8 ..wink
