Re: New traffic management policy announced tomorrow!!

It could be a lot worse to be fair and for a mass market product it's not bad at all.

This is also a temporary and interim measure until the newer more granular usage and port load based traffic management is available in the early summer in time for the 120Mb uplift.

Even during the managed periods you still have 50Mb downstream, more than any xDSL product provides right now.

everyone seems to be blaming any slowdown on STM now.

My take on it is that because there's been an STM change people are actually starting to check their speeds. That seems to be revealing that far more areas are now congested since VM lost their corporate marbles and started to sell what their network has no chance of supporting - 100Mbps unlimited. It still won't support it with the new STM measures IMO. A couple of torrent freaks in an area (say 1% of users) is all it takes to cripple it if they are on the 100/10 product and most high usage users will be as it's only a few quid more than the low end packages.

Of course the abysmal Superhub doesn't help either.

yep sounds logical. especially as everyone started blaming it when it was then revealed it wasnt live yet in most areas.

The old low capacity per node is a well known contention issue as old as the docsis and adsl which is better debate.
