Re: For what we pay...

I'm not. smile I haven't even started the signup process yet. I've been weighing up the pros and cons of maybe getting TV as well. It's a longer contract, granted, but it's possible to get M+ TV and the phone line (which won't even be getting a phone plugged into it, incidentally, but it works out cheaper to get all three rather than just BB + TV) along with the 100mbit (soon to be 120mbit) package for only £3 more per month than the broadband itself would be. (after Quidco and prepaying 12 months' line rental)

Perhaps I should have stated that ON PAPER they're head and shoulders above. I've been reassured by a few locals, though, that the service is stable and for the most part doesn't suffer from the congestion that other areas do. I don't feel quite as worried about signing up as I did on Friday.

Yes - ON PAPER they're always wonderful, sometimes they are in practice too.

I'll add a minor correction here too...
I've been reassured by a few locals, though, that the service is stable and for the most part doesn't ( yet ) suffer from the congestion that other areas do.

When they are good they are very very good. When they are bad you've usually got 15 months of an 18 month contract left to run...

The local area is apparently quite low for broadband takeup in general, so hopefully that'll continue. I'll just have to cross my fingers and hope there are no actual faults.

They are trialling new traffic management in my area. It's borked. So after 8 months of awful service I gave them my 30 days notice.

Bear in mind that it only takes 4 HD On demand streams to break the FUP.

problem is for VMs TM to be effective in heavyily subbed areas it does need to be really draconian.

My advice if you can get FTTC jump ship otherwise hope for the best.
