Power usage?

If you meant power levels, then Birmingham Virgin Net Engineers say thay am for 0 but between -3 & +3 is on target, under that is dangerous, specially at certain times of year and any higher than 5db they consider an issue too..

However at Virgin Media's forum and various other posters on this forum and theirs say various figures as much as between -10 & +10 though when you call into Technical team they rasie an engineer for a power level at 5 or above or below 4..

It is & was one of the many things that annoyed about Virgin, between all the departments know body could give an official figure.... and when I moved to Crawley the engineers said that they can't set signals properly because the equipment (amplifiers) in the cabinets where so old that the signal would jump up and down depending on the direction o the wind...

I had 4 visits in 2 months to change the signal... eventually it was just a case of keeping many different FPA's available.

They are now supposed to be sorting that anyway: https://www.cable.co.uk/news/virgin-media-promises-b...

A final step expected to be carried out is the replacement of all the amplifiers in Crawley, making the broadband signal to every home as stable and reliable as possible as part of Virgin's ongoing network management across its whole network.

Actually now a lot of Engineers in the field are told power levels between -5 and +10 are within acceptable levels but in some cases such high power levels cause issues.

For example if my hub goes above +6 it just reboots itself over and over again.

So proving the point made above, know body can give me a definitive range on what the power levels are supposed to be and everyone disagree'so with everyone..

I think it's fair to say the I have always been right to say keep them between the 4's.... Meaning connections shouldn't have issue when on the best and worst of virgins networks across the UK.
