Hub5 Wifi Latency

[link to this post]

Got Gig1 which is great in my area, absolutely no problems with congestion. However, getting some weird latency problems on the wifi side (ethernet is fine, and weirdly so is my Windows PC on wifi is fine too). However, my macbook getting weird latency spikes. I thought it was just cos it was old, but my new M2 macbook air has the exact same problem.

Here's an example - this is to the router itself, so not the internet.

ping 192.168.0.1
PING 192.168.0.1 (192.168.0.1): 56 data bytes

I'm going to try and change the channel number a bit, but is this a known problem at all? I'm pretty happy with the hub 5 as is really in terms of coverage and speeds, apart from this weird issue so I don't really want to buy a new router.

I would guess you have other people nearby using the same channel.

WiFi interference is a pain, and sometimes you need to split the 2.4 and 5 GHz channels to debug.

I've already have 2.4GHz disabled. Problem is on my Windows PC the ping on wifi is completely stable. It's only on (now 2) macs that there is an issue.

I've tried changing channels and no luck.

The fact it is mac only makes me think there is some other sort of issue here?

Possible, Apple is known for being picky about WiFi. Ethernet would solve it, or you could get a third party access point and replace the WiFi.

So the actual issue was this: https://www.reddit.com/r/ShadowPC/comments/nreir1/mi...

Seems the airplay daemon is badly configured. Turning it off solves the problem after a minute or two - not instantly!

Now much much better and speeds way better. Pretty amazing such a bad issue is still present.
