Moved from Plusnet today, no connection yet?

[link to this post]

So, Openreach turned up 3hrs late, checkd my router and wiring said all ok, went off to the exchange to swap me from Plusnet, said he'd check it from there and if all was well he wouldn't be back, which he wasn't.

For about the next 45mins I could see the router was synced (DSL was connected)

It then disconnected and hasn't reconnected since.

Rang/chatted with Voda for a couple of hours of nobody seeming to know what DSL was.

Eventually was told that everything will sort out at midnight, router was showing as synced.at their end.

So is this possible? can it be showing as synced at their end when it has no DSL connection showing on the router here?.

Also tried resetting it, connecting my previous router and again no DSL connection showing.

Sorry for any typos, car accident does wonderful things to your brain apparently!

Yes, pretty sure the migration can take effect any time up until 2359hrs on the day of transfer.

If the sync they are showing is actually sync and you cannot see sync, mis-jumpering or crossed line.

Is your service SoGEA or does it come with a workable copper voice line. For the latter, can you check for a dial tone and the number that shows matching yours when you call your own number?

IF that is the case, good luck getting Vodafone to A.) Understand the issue and B.) Get it fixed without a cease and reprovide.

I'm talking from experience on this, their first level support used to be based in Egypt and didn't even understand what VDSL was properly, just given a script and told to get on with it.

So, still no connection at 00:19hrs

Tried ringing my home phone from my mobile and nothing, mobile doesn't connect or give a ringing tone or anything.

I told them I wanted to keep my number when I moved, just found the contract and it says SOGEA, I have the phone connected into the router with the supplied adaptor, no dial tone.

DSL status still says disconnected

You'll need to discuss with them in that case.

If indeed it is SoGEA, you won't get a dial tone on the copper line any longer and if they've moved the number to VoIP via the router, that's not going to work as it is not in sync.

Thanks, looks like I'll be wasting most of tomorrow on the phone again.

Spoke to several people today, could hardly understand most of them, tried explaining no DSL signal but talking to a brick wall.

The ones on the chat bsystem (Tobi) were better but still insisted it would magically connect at midnight even though no DSL signal after Openreach transferred the connection at the exchange.

Is there a proper technical support number?

Wonder if I can cancel and go back to Plusnet?? frown

Just woke up to find an email from them at 4:24am

Sorry we coundn't activate your broadband at 15:18:38 on December 1st, so they knew it wasn't activated when I talked to them!!. They say there's nothing I can do but wait.

Great, vunerable disabled adult now with no broadband or phone, had to get my son to come over so I can piggy back off his phones mobile hot spot.

So, Openreach engineer turned up about 90mins ago out of the blue.

Been round to the cabinet for about 4mins and reckons it wasn't even connected.

Now having problems with unbalanced line, capacitance etc managed a sort of connection at 27mb.

Line is connected on 2 A's not A & D (think that's what he said). Has gone back to cabinet again.

If this was an FTTC migration, why was an engineer even booked for it? Or did you upgrade from ADSL?
