sipgate - help!

[link to this post]

I've registered for a spgate account and paid for the Acrobits softphone app. I've tried to configure it following the instructions on the sipgate website but it stubbornly refuses to register on the sipgate control panel and always shows as unauthorized in the app.
I also tried the free version of zoiper and that registered on the sipgate site straight away so what am I missing with Acrobits? I followed the instructions here to the letter:

https://teamhelp.sipgate.co.uk/hc/en-gb/articles/208...

Any pointers will be most welcome.

Well it looks like the instructions in the post above are a load of nonsense. I followed the generic instructions for softphones here https://teamhelp.sipgate.co.uk/hc/en-gb/articles/208... and that seems to have worked. No need to go in to advanced settings and set port numbers or anything like that.
I've mailed sipgate to let them know their instructions are wrong.

IIRC when I tried setting up Groundwave on my mobile from their instructions it didn't make sense, then realised the instructions referred to Groundwave Lite, once I downloaded that it was dead simple.

On most soft-phone clients I’ve used, typically the most you need enter to get up and running, are three pieces of information, with any standard VoIP account…

1. SIP domain / registrar
2. SIP login
3. SIP password

The mistake many folks make (especially with Sipgate) is to confuse their general account login & password (email address usually, although it’s varied over the years) and their SIP login/password.

No such confusion here regarding accounts and passwords. Once I ignored all the stuff on the sipgate website about how to configure Acrobits Softphone, it was a breeze. All it needed was account, password and domain. All the stuff about setting port numbers and the like was breaking it.
