Just had a spam call from an agent who had detected my phone was “insecure” and offering to sell me call blocking software to secure it!! I took then cheap option of hanging up on him. Anyone else had a similar offer?

Had a rash of them a while ago, but not recently. If I didn't just hang up, I usually told them I already had a call blocker and was going to add their number to my blocked list smile

(It was true enough, even though was just the standard BT Call Protect)

I found that most responses had no effect on discouraging the ####holes. My tried & tested approach is to say "hang on, I'll go and get him for you", Then mute the mic, put the phone down and have a coffee. Wasting their precious calling time is very effective.

Yes, I've done that too. Trouble is, some can be remarkably patient (or gullible, depending how you look at it) and the phone is effectively out of service until they hang up frown

I don't think it's ever taken more than 10 minutes, and it's usually preceded by "hello ... hello ...hello ... oh f###".
At least no other prat can call while this is going on.

I suspect these ‘people’ have more than one line on the go at any one time.

There’s a big spate of spam calls to my employers work mobiles at present. They start by telling you they are calling from O2 (who do not supply the mobile service)

I usually manage to get them to hang up very quickly by replying with a stream profanity, and advice about their career choice.

Childish, but it makes me feel better.

54-46 was my number

I answer with 'Hello Police station' if they do not hang up, I then say are you the person who wants to report a Murder , that gets rid of them quick. smile

Hmmm - I usually answer any number I'm not expecting a call from with "OH MY GOD! WHERE DID ALL THAT BLOOD COME FROM??!!"
