Linking domain to hosting problem

[link to this post]

It isn't something I have to do every day, but, I thought that all I really needed to do change the nameservers in the control panel to the ones for the webhosting and then... wait!

I did that 2 days ago and it still isn't working:/

I have checked my webhosting and everything seems to be in order there as well but I am no expert (I just compared it to a couple of domains that were already working on my reseller hosting).

A whois for the site shows:

Text
1
23
45
67
89
1011
1213
1415
1617
Registrar:
         1 & 1 Internet AG [Tag = SCHLUND]         URL: http://www.1and1.co.uk or http://registrar.1und1.info
      Relevant dates:
Registered on: 31-Oct-2010         Renewal date:  31-Oct-2012
         Last updated:  01-Nov-2010
Registration status:         Registration request being processed.
      Name servers:
         backupdns.000025.net         ns5.000025.net
WHOIS lookup made at 10:16:22 03-Nov-2010

Those nameservers are correct. What does the Registration request being processed bit mean? By that I mean is this the reason everything is broken? The domain was registered on Sun 31st Oct at about 00:50.

Given that the site is far from complete, it is not too much of an issue at the moment, but I need to get this sorted sooner rather than later. Can anyone shed any light onto the problem or at least say to me whether I should be getting hold of my hosting company of the domain registration company?

Thanks

It means that it is a new domain but has not yet been paid for by the registrar. (Nominet invoice TAG holders once a month so that status is likely to change in December at some point) Nothing to worry about though.

I know the host you are with, from the nameservers alone. Have you checked the zone file for the domain at their end?

I wonder if you have as little good to say about them as I do? One day I will get [censored] off enough to move elsewhere!

I have gone into edit dns zone in webhost manager and everything seems to be in order if this is what you mean? I could take a screenshot of the screen if that would help?

Sorry, I am not much use here. Everything just worked the other times I have done this!

Check the NS records you have - they should match those nameservers in the WHOIS output.

We've had a few people move from your current host and they appear to use very long TTLs, so when you do change things around, it takes a fair few days for DNS to propagate and caches to clear.

Yes they do match. I did change the TTL settings on sun night in a bid to get things working but to no avail.

Do you know about DNSstuff.com ?

Have a look at your DNS Report. It should give you some cluues as to what is wrong.

That domain (zone) does not exist on either of your nameservers in the WHOIS.. That is the problem frown
