Nominet

When did they stop providing accessible information on Domain ownership?

I could at one time look up the details of who owned a specific .co.uk website when owned by a company (Individuals were different). Now, the information is hidden and formal expansive legal approaches are needed!

Also, is it possible to get a list from Nominet of all domains that are registered to a speciic body/person?

Simple answer - GDPR.

They blocked access to the data as the easiest way to make themselves GDPR compliant. Even for business registrations there was potentially personal information in there and it was considered too hard to resolve so easiest just to block all public access.

That is just laziness. And business data should not be restructed by GDPR.

It will now need a solictors letter to obtain the basic information with the associated costs!

There was quite a lot about this in the press leading up to GDPR coming into force in 2018. This is a recent view of the impact of GDPR on whois records.

Why would you want the information?

This is quite an old thread so I am hoping you aren't just posting this in order to test before starting to spam... Assuming that this is a valid post:

It is very useful from a security perspective to be able to check who owns IP addresses and domain names. It allows you to check that the owner is a legitimate entity to give some comfort that it is not malicious. It also allows you to check the owner of IP addresses that may be bouncing connections off your firewall or appear to be DDOS or hacking your network.

Its seems strange to me, that if I knew your address or could locate your property or land on a map, then for the sum of £3.00 I or anyone else can obtain within seconds a copy of your deeds from the Land Registry which will give loan and other information relating to the property (assuming that it has been registered). For another £3.00 you can obtain a plan showing the property and land.

Yet as to whois GDPR rules! Strange.

Cheers!
