Hi Looking to change ISP from Tiscali got the code toady, I'm thinking of Namesco or Newnet
I've looked at Entanet but I'm not keen on paying a set up fee. What do you guys think ??

There is no set up fee for Entanet re-sellers when you are migrating in (unless on LLU). Have a look at the migration page on a resellers web site like UKFSN for example.

Have you checked out IDnet. An excellent company and very personable.

Looks like I didn't read the page right so I'm quite happy to go with an Entanet supplier but which one??
|
|
|
If you look at DSL Zone the top recommended ISP's are Enta resellers so I guess it's down to personal preference - NewNet are excellent btw from personal experience.

Perhaps your average/peak monthly usage would help in choosing a supplier.

If you are not a heavy user, Waitrose Broadband is excellent with free 24/7 support, free router & up to 3 months free.

Not a particularly heavy down loader the odd programme, album, occasional on line game, most usage is surfing and email, rig and internet is never switched off unless I'm on holiday currently been 8weeks since I powered down

NewNet has a good reputation and is

If you pick an Entanet provider out of the main 3 (ukfsn, vivaciti, adsl24) I would personally choose UKFSN as from my experience they were the ones that answered a load of questions i had in an email in the most detail.
All 3 did answer the email i sent though and all 3 were quick in answering (same day). From user reports, there is very little between any of those 3 Entanet suppliers, and as you are transfering from Tiscali all 3 will be sooooo much better, they all know their products and they know them well
Newnet is another Very good provider which you mentioned but be aware if you want a buffer of a good usage allowance their allowance is nowhere near that of a Entanet provider.
Namesco although rated high by some i personally wouldnt go for, but the free router and 30 day contract on some packages does look good value.
At the end of the day as long as you are not a regular heavy user i imagine any of those ^^^ above you will be more then happy with, they will be a HUGE improvement over Tiscali.

You haven't quantified your monthly GB usage. However at least NewNet as well as some of the others mentioned only ties you into a month's notice.
|
|
|
|
If you are a heavy user or want to use over 30GB/month, you need an Enta.net reseller.
They are the only ones to have fair usage limits which aren't stupid or overly restrictive in addition to the best prices and still a very high standard of service.

Steer clear of Namesco at the moment as there suffering from congestion, maybe things will improve with a new 155 pipe coming online soon but for now look elsewere

Sorry checked on Tiscali average is about 8gig a month so I've signed for the 12gig package with Newnet not gone over 10gig in the past year so it should work for me.

The best of luck to you. It would be nice to have a good story on the forums.

I don't think that you'll regret your choice, I haven't since migrating to Newnet last November.

Got the tech data etc through says up to 14 days so will keep you posted, thanks for the help

I have been with NewNet for 15 months and have only had one minor outage which lasted for 10 minutes.
Speeds have been excellent during this period, I cant say how good or bad CS are...I have never had an occasion to use them.
Good luck with whoever you choose.

Hi
I'm looking for a decent provider for a friend. He is in the country temporarily and wants the following: hen envisages being here for 3 months to a year.
BB connection upto 8meg will be fine i.e BT standard.
Unlimited download, but a cap of 10g is fine as he will just be surfing and mailing.
Min contract 3-6 months,i.e he doesn't wnat to be tied into a year.
No connection charge, good rep for customer service and stableprovider. It doesnt have to be the cheapest
