Anyone with Aquiss?

Still undecided about my choice of isp. Ive been searching around and came across Aquiss that have some gaming packages which are of interest to me. And have higher usage rates than IDnet for same price (http://www.aquiss.net/broadband-gaming.php).

So is anyone with Aquiss or anyone heard anything negative that would put me off going with these, as im quite a heavy downloader and also game a lot so need good pings.

Aquiss are Entanet resellers so the service will be the same as going with ADSL24, Vivaciti, UKFSN and the likes. Service will be very good but Aquiss are a bit more expensive as they do the billing themselves and treat over limit usage a bit differently than other resellers so make sure that you are happy with the differences between Aquiss and the others for the extra you're paying. Otherwise go with one of the others and save yourself a few quid every month.

am with aquiss am VERY happy with there service not got a bad word to say about them i would recommend them to ANYONE!

i am considering leaving them but it isn't because of the service its just i might have a change of situation

Excellent thanks for the input , they do seem to be good and from what i can see dont have a fair usage policy. Which is an added bonus.

No fair usage policy atall i been with them about a year now by far the best ISP i ever had!

they do have caps but you can monitor your usage online and if you need to upgrade to a higher package, remember uploads are counted in your usage i regularly hit 150gb a month and it aint a problem

If you would be signing up for one of the Entanet packages they resell, (I believe they do sell other connections), and your sync speed is over 4000kbps, then you need to be sure you are happy with the Entanet ALT system.

That's the downside of the great allowances. But a plus for maintaining the latency for gaming.

(I'm not knocking it by any means. Just no-one has mentioned it and if you expect 6Mbps all the time you probably won't get it, and then you would be very upset).

Thanks for the heads up on the ALT system, does seem a little shady saying no fair usage policy then have some system working in background throttling pretty much.

If the speed decrease wasnt massive i wouldnt be to bothered but with BT my current isp soon as 6pm comes im throttled back to 1mb speeds and this is until midnight sometimes 1 am which is useless. Is it as bad as that?

The ALT is designed to slow things down to 2Mbps on whichever Centrals are heavily loaded. Apparently speeds rarely go below that for people who sync above that.

And you can see which central you are on and how they are all performing and try to swap if you want.

Post a thread about it in the Entanet forum and get views from the users, and a couple of trolls.

For ISPs where you don't expect to have any speed problems and strange FUPs you want IDNet, Newnet or Zen - but these all cost you a lot more for high usage. To save me re-reading your posts, have we established you can't get Sky/UKOnline or O2/Be?

I sync around 7000kbps and have a 6000 profile. Speeds during the day can be as low as 4000kbps, though normally mid-4000s, presumably as Newnet is primarily a business ISP.

Evenings and nights and weekends speeds actually increase. I get high 4000s, and about 5300 at best. Theoretical highest possible on 6000 profile is 5700.

Not quite, the ALT is designed to slow things down enough to prevent packet loss and keep latency low. That is more often than not well in excess of 2Mb. 2Mb is the lowest the ALT will take a connection, after that it is a free-for-all with unmanaged contention but in 13 months with Enta I've never seen that happen.

Yes - I gave him a link in my previous post to the description of the ALT by ADSL24 which he seems to have read. I was actually trying to say in the one you reply to that - No, it isn't as bad as that - in response to his question.

I can't say what happens if things completely clog up, but I don't think I have seen any reports of that, as you say.
