Which ISP if any?

[link to this post]

Are there any ISPs out there who dont find it to big an issue to turn off INTERLEAVING?

There is no need for it yet for some reason it always gets activated even though I have a superb line and live within 100 metres from exchange...

Please help guys/gals.

Thanks in advance

Be if you can get it allow you to control it yourself on their top two packages but a phone call also gets another form of error checking turned off.

Newnet certainly, IDNet and Zen I expect are no trouble.

Edit - But that upload looks low for a "superb" line.

Add UK Online and Entanet to Roberto's list, though with BT Wholesale ISPs the problem is the ISP persuading BTW to do it rather than the ISP themselves.
Who are you with at the moment to get that download rate?

Steve

My line is excellant and I am a stones throw away from my exchange yet Interleaving is on!! I had AOL turn it off a few years back and now TT have taken my connection they say no as it must be needed if it has been applied. I get nowhere.

Since all this AOL/TT changeover and them moving me to the TT connection I have had nothing but probs... Speed limited to 2.2MB, INTERLEAVING on when it's not required and wow technical support who dont know what interleaving or a BRAS Profile are.

Im going [censored] mad and they dont help. It took me to speak to a BT Wholesale Director to get this sorted 2 years ago and now im back to square one. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH

STATS CONNECTION;

DSL Connection Details
DSL Line (Wire Pair): Line 1 (inner pair)
Protocol: G.DMT Annex A
Downstream Rate: 7616 kbps
Upstream Rate: 448 kbps
Channel: Interleaved
Current Noise Margin: 18.0 dB (Downstream) 29.0 dB (Upstream)
Current Attenuation: 10.6 dB (Downstream) 7.5 dB (Upstream)
Current Output Power: 15.8 dBm (Downstream) 12.1 dBm (Upstream)
DSLAM Vendor Information: Country: {0xB5} Vendor: {TSTC} Specific: {0x05}
PVC Info: 0/38

OBVIOUSLY THE SPEEDTEST BELOW WAS FROM WHEN I WAS ON BTIPSTREAM WITH INTERLEAVING OFF.

These stats show I dont require interleaving, so why have it on. ARGHHH. I feel like crying. May sue for damages to my health soon if they dont get this sorted...

So what is your exchange, and is your phone still with BT? Did you ask to be moved to TT or did they just tell you they were going to do it?

I have a BT Featureline (Business) and No I wasn't told. I just received an email saying they were upgrading my line and when I asked they said they have no record of it. 2 Weeks later after the so called upgrade they explained what they had done.

EXCHANGE: HAYLE, CORNWALL
MY POST CODE: TR27 4BE

I am with BT for my phone but AOL using TalkTalk equipment LLU for Broadband.

Thanks for that.

Unfortunately there are no decent LLU operators at your exchange, so the list at the moment is as I said before, Zen, IDNet and Newnet. UKOnline has been mentioned and they are also worth a look though I can't easily see where they distinguish between the BT IPStream package you would have to have and their LLU offerings that you can't.

If you have any idea of your download amounts, and in Newnet's case uploads as well, then that will help you choose a package.

I don't recommend Entanet resellers just at the moment as they are in a considerable state of flux with new packages and throttling regime due at the end of March, and O2 Access is also over-loaded probably for the next few weeks.

The others above are all excellent ISPs. See this comparison.

Would you say my line stats are good for a top 24Mb product? When LLU is more redily available of course..

Many thanks

Re: Which ISP if any? ARGGHHHH!!!!

[re: shaneosborne] [link to this post]

OUT OF CURIOSITY........

I just checked my number against the TalkTalk site for my estimated Speed and availability and get this error;

We've just done a quick test on your phone line and we can see you have a product installed that isn't compatible with TalkTalk. This could be any of these:

Featureline
This means that you have an additional phone number that can accept simultaneous incoming calls.

Multiline or PBX
A type of switchboard used for providing multiple telephone lines from the main public switched telephone network (PSTN). Generally used at business premises but also used in some large residential housing blocks.

Redcare Alarm
Redcare is a specialised BT alarm system that contacts the emergency services using a signal from a telephone line. Please note, this is a very specialised alarm product and TalkTalk is compatible with all other home alarm systems.

Payphone
This is a phone that needs either coins or a card to operate

To progress with your transfer to TalkTalk all you need to do is contact BT on 0800 800 150 (Mon Fri 8am-6pm; Sat 9am- 6pm; Sun 10am-5pm) and request the service be removed.

I am just curious and I'm wondering that because they say I can't have broadband with them and I also wondering if this is why all my problems have started since AOL moving me over to the TT LLU (still being billed by AOL as an AOL Customer).

If this is the case, why have they moved me over to an incompatible product?

This gets worse... As I said before. Everything was perfect when I was on the IPStream Product.. All seems strange to me and hope someone can help............

Ok you should be able to have your line set to fastpath whilst on TalkTalk LLU , but phone support is not the way to get custom settings on your line .

Try the TalkTalk members Forum linky and ask in here as this is excepted by TalkTalk users as the only way to get line faults and custom settings done with out to much fuss .

My mother is on TalkTalk and has a 22mb/1mb line on fastpath with a 80gig download limit , i expect she will be happy when my sister and her family move into there new house and she can go back to a standard TalkTalk 8mb connection 40gig download limit.
But for now TalkTalk has exceeded every body expectations and has performed with out fault with XboX live and even having my gobby nephews saying its so much better than there old BT connection .

So give the members forum a go and give up with the phone . and being realistic nobody can estimate your possible connection speed with out seeing your router stats

Sorry forgot to leave my router stats, must have left them elsewhere. See stats below;

DSL Connection Details
DSL Line (Wire Pair): Line 1 (inner pair)
Protocol: G.DMT Annex A
Downstream Rate: 7616 kbps
Upstream Rate: 448 kbps
Channel: Interleaved
Current Noise Margin: 18.0 dB (Downstream) 29.0 dB (Upstream)
Current Attenuation: 10.6 dB (Downstream) 7.5 dB (Upstream)
Current Output Power: 15.8 dBm (Downstream) 12.1 dBm (Upstream)
DSLAM Vendor Information: Country: {0xB5} Vendor: {TSTC} Specific: {0x05}
PVC Info: 0/38

The issue I have is that I cannot register on the TalkTalk Forums as I am with AOL but on the TT LLU Equipment. So I am billed by AOL but the service is provided by TT. Odd I know. I spoke to TalkTalk Sales and they say I can't have the service with them as I have a featureline. This whole issue gets more stupid as we get further into it.

Nice stats! 23Mbps line on ADSL2+ with a 20Mbps download speed.

So if you can get onto TT proper Boost things should be great. Can't you get to speak to someone who knows what they are doing?

One of the forum threads on the members forum does not need a log in , i think its talk to the staff or something like that .
you would be much better off being with talktalk direct as has been pointed out you got wicked stats and could boost upto some serious speeds with TalkTalk .
Just be mindfull that it may mean another very long contract , but to the most part TalkTalk have been getting there house in order , but there telephone support is still one of the worst and the members forum is still the best way to get things sorted .

Another option is to go with Opal telecom direct and get UK based support , but it does cost more but at least has UK based support that can speak proper English , and im pretty sure these are the same support staff that look after the members forum ..

he has probably decided by now and actioned it. Check the dates.

I saw a post an hour or so ago by an Anon like you, also suggesting UKOnline I think.

That thread was also several weeks if not months old.
