Scotdsl - anyone got a comment

I have just been reading about Scotdsl and their 15.95 unlimited package. Does anyone know of them or use them?

Good, bad or indifferent?

From a search on this site, yours is the only post to mention them in the last 6 months.

Two ISPs come to mind here, looking at what Scotdsl are offering (although Scotdsl are offering the same far cheaper)
One of them was EvolutionDSL.....went to the wall
Another of them was Aceinternet, who had to eat a lot of humble pie when it was forced to introduce caps, when it was found out to be offering an unsustainable product (at over twice the price od Scotdsl)
In other words, i wouldnt touch Scotdsl with a bargepole

They seem to be a reseller/ vISP of www.njpservices.com which I personally haven't come across either.

Hmmm, never heard of them before, & I'm only about 35 miles from Elgin & am in the High Street quite regularly.

I also note the Quoted Company Details & Contact Address is :-
ScotDSL, 1st Floor, 25a High Street, Elgin ,Moray, IV30 1EE
(which IIRC is one of a number of small offices above a couple of lock-up shops, but I'll take a closer look next time I'm in Elgin.)

However, In the Company T&C, the Quoted Company Details are :-
NJP Services Ltd, 61 London Road, Blackwater, Camberley, Surrey, GU17 0AB
&
Clause 19.1 of the T&C specifies the contract shall be governed under English Law in the English Courts, which could potentially make life more awkward for any Scots customers assuming they were dealing with a Primarily Scottish Company.

They have to be a reseller of some sort, as there is certainly no such local outfit running their own resources & centrals that I've ever heard of.

I am also a "little suspect" of the commonly used sweetener for gaining referrals (a typical "signup enough friends and get your monthly subscription for free" offer), especially when combined with the claimed ultra-cheap prices and totally unlimited bandwidth supposedly being offered ..... See T&C Clause 14.8

You should also read the terms and conditions! here's a few snippets:

1.14 "Exit Fee" means that in the event that you wish to move providers or cancel the service provided to you, within the first 12 months you will be liable to pay a fee equivalent to the connection fee that you would have paid if the service had not been offered with free connection. It all looks far too good to be true. Bold statements "No caps" and "No restrictions", alway ring alarm bells with me...

I am glad I am not the only cautious person around. I was kind of unbelieving when I read the offer which is why I asked for comments.

Notice that no Scotdsl user replied - are there any? Most likely they havent found this site - one of my regular visits when online.

It doesnt mean that if you signed up with them, they wouldn't provide you with a half decent service, for all we know they might.

I did read somewhere that companies like EurISP and Entanet dont impose usage limits as such on re-sellers such as Fast4, V21(the new one) and ScotDSL, and that's why they can claim to have such liberal usage policies.

Im pretty sure that if someone actually decided to test this and clock up something like 2-3 terrabytes in a month, they would have something to say about it.
