Are there any good ISP's left?

Ok, I am currently on Pipex and due to connection issues, direct debit fiasco and unavailability of customer service was supposed to migrate to Sky about now, but they (Sky) made an absolute hash of it and customer service was so dire, I'm now thinking perhaps I had a lucky escape.

Ideally I would like to go for wireless adsl, with a reasonable download limit say 40gb.

Can you post your line stats ?

You want wireless so you can ditch your BT phone line? (Cable phone?)

If not, why wireless?

I think you will find that wireless networks are few and far between and rather expensive. Your best bet is to stay with a BT line and subscribe to a really good ISP who will help you sort out any connection difficulties.

I will recommend IDNet, they have a superior CS and Support all based in Letchworth and you actually talk to real people. Phones answered within two or three rings and emails normally answered within a few hours. All suport and CS is free, along with a free phone number.

I think you will find the poster has just worded things slightly inaccurate.
If they are currently with Pipex that for the most part is just regular ADSL MAX also AFAIK Sky who they were moving too are not a wireless provider either.

What the poster probably meant is that they would like a service where they can use a wireless router and maybe surf around the home say on a laptop with no wires etc (which is 99.9% of providers anyway).

Assuming this to be the case......... To the original poster, have a look at Newnet, Entanet resellers (see the Enta forums here) also consider fast.co.uk and if your exchange is LLU capable Bethere and Ukonline... All these are much better in terms of service and connection then Pipex.

I reckon so too, though I hadn't thought about the two ISPs mentioned. That was the reason for my previous post - why wireless?

Still chack out IDnet, they are not a wirless provider just a regular ISP

Hi W, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say maybe stick with Sky! Yes, their tech support is rubbish but assuming you have a half decent line you should never need them - just don't sign up with Connect.

I was very apprehensive about migrating across [for cost reasons] but the actual connection has been fab; solid, stable and high quality. I believe Sky have nearly 500k of customers now so maybe time for a little relativity [easy to say when my line is okay ]

Connect is the package they have offered me since their original deal went pear shaped, and if I go with Sky it has to be connect now apparently. I take it it's not a good choice? I noticed it was more money.
